Sony A7/(r) image sharing thread

Hi guys, the images taken with rangefinder lens on A7/R is inspiring. I am also considering getting one for my A7 but torn between CV 35mm f1.2 v2 or ZM Biogon 35mm f2. Can advice?

CV 35/1.2 V2 if u need the best IQ and Bokeh on a 35mm on the A7, pitfall is the bulk and weight of it. Tatz Y I will not include this lens in my setup, wun be motivated to bring out and shoot anyway. ZM 35/2 is small, compact, awesome on the f/2 wide open and very good contrast and sharpness.

Thanks Thoth : ) I googled these two lens and it seem that more people are talking about the ZM 35/2 than the CV 35/1.2 v2. Guess at the end of the day i have to look at more photos taken from both lens to decide.

I just tested the Version 1 last nitez wif bro overworked. His copy is very sharp. I am still challenged by the bulk and weight despite the great IQ getting out from it. His 8 elements Summicron 35/2 pre ASPH is so compact and sharp...

Can consider CV 35/1.4 too. Its even smaller & cheaper, yet f/1.4. Although not as sharp wide open & its bokeh is harsh, not as smooth as ZM 35/2 or CV 35/1.2.

CV35/1.4 is never a good lens to use wide open. Stop down to f/2 and u get sharper images but get a so so bokeh. I miss my summilux 35/1.4 Pre ASPH. LOL... Go for ZM 35/2 for sharpness, contrast and compactness and CV 35/1.2 for general great IQ with a versatility of an f/1.2.

Before you plonk down $1,000+ for a Biogon 35mm f2, do check out the native lens, the FE35 2.8. I have both and am leaning towards the FE35

Ok. Look at it this way, both around d same price. One is a stop faster. D other has AF. One needs an adaptor, d other just plug n play. One doesn't get all d exif data 2 while d other one does.

D main reason I wun go FE 35/2.8 is, Sony can make a Zeiss FE 35/2 but chose not to cannibalize their Rx1/r. I'll rather wait for d proper f/2 or wider lens for d FE mount before committing. If not its a never ending BBB cycle again. Haha

A brand new Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2 M-Mount is around $1.8k-$1.9k. One of their best lens.

So if comparing both new, the 35FE is half the price of Biogon 35mm. Main difference is F2 advantage on Biogon but super accurate AF of 35FE.

There is also a even sharper Zeiss 35mm F2.8 C Biogon M-Mount, cost around $1.4k-$1.5k I think. This one is similar to 35FE in terms of f2.8 (and likely similar sharpness) but without AF.

35FE is latest designed for latest FF sensor and known to outresolves A7 resolution. Biogon F2 has been around for a while before all the high resolution sensors. I dont have the 35mm Biogon anymore to test, but I guess the 35FE will be a sharper and higher resolving lens.

I think 35FE is a better buy.

Tested out both lens at the shop and decided to go with the voightlander 35mm f1.2 ii. The build of this lens is really solid. I chose this over the Zeiss because it has a larger aperture and able to create a much creamy effect than Zeiss.

I almost got a biogon 35/2 ZM here for less than 900... Haha... Anyway, all up to individual what he or she wants. I still dun think FE 35/2.8 is a better buy, for me at the least. :bsmilie:

Once the fad dies down, lotza A7/Rs, legacy RF/SLR lenses will be floating around in the BnS... Looking forward to see Fuji comes into play... Keke...

As long as you can take the weight, it is indeed a very nice lens with good bokeh.

Sold mine though. Too heavy for my M9P, and even more unbalanced for A7.
