Thanks Bro...

I read review of the F60M.... a bit disappointing... if I am required to shoot event... too unreliable to trust this...

I like the Quick bounce... seems like it have an overheating nature.... beside the TTL firing at full power......

This is a deal breaker for me... guess I can only consider using A7 as a compact system....

Wah.. Pro... Shoot event one... I noob nia... Use 20M find it very good liao... Keke...

Testing how sharp is the Leica-R 21mm F4 aka Super-Angulon @ wide open and it's max minimum focusing distance.

This lens sharpness is good wide open and its minimum focusing distance is 0.2m or 8inches but I think it's slightly shorter coz when I am shooting I am really close to the subject tried shooting headshot with it on my wife and the entire frame is just like my wife face :-) wont post here coz it'll show all the fine line and blemishes you know how ladies are :-)

So I decided to shoot my daughter's Barbie size doll and one of my display Kodak Flex cam I've also made a near 100% crop for ref

I didn't retouched anything just adjust the exposure and a bit of shadows. NR is set @ high ISO - Normal and ISO is set to Auto

Crop version roughly 70-80% I think (can see some shake when crop the image) need to stop taking kopi

Don't think i'd use the a7 as a main camera for events. More as a 2nd body or backup camera. Af and tracking while good in good light, starts to slow down and hunt abit once light gets dim. Just bought the a99 recently. Try out the camera in af-d mode and you won't want to use any other camera for events work.

it's the same for me before during when I shoot for my cousin's wedding and pre-nup I have my mirrorless as actually my 3rd cam :-) I have my fav prime lens on it for artistic shots and the two main body during that time was my A77 + Sigma 80-200 f2.8 and A55 + CZ 16-80 and my mirrorless that time was EP3 with Lens Panasonic Leica summilux 25mm f1.4

EF 16-35

SEL 10-18

Minolta for me! love the color rendering

PS. I see some banding on EF and SEL lenses? I am also seeing it on my A7r I did shoot this morning sunrise from my window and notice some banding also. Both Leica-R 21mm f4 and Canon FL 19mm f3.5

ha the banding for the UWA shots are from my el cheapo tianya ND grad filter plus DRO level 6 and some highlight recovery in post. but without that the scene would have been a washout with the backlit sun. so have to make do hehehe. minolta shots were the earliest so the sky was the most orangey :)

yeah same also when I pull the Dynamic range specially the shadows banding will show. I guess next time when shooting sunset/sunrise or landscape better shoot in RAW, JPEG even x-fine just wont cut it when you start pushing the Dynamic range and shadows :-)

Aha that figures why your Minolta shots has more punchy colors. But even you wont put the lens model I will still choose it also like the sun burst/rays which I caused by the lens iris :-)very nice the FE shows some but till prefer the Minolta. Sorry I'm kinda old school guy

I was looking at the flash system of Sony.... and do not think it is good enough... cos of the overheating issue...

And of course, for events, must go DSLR for now.... till mirrorless catches up...

What type of events are you shooting?

Need to do continuous shooting? Overheating caused by pro-longed shooting?

Guess it is not just about overheating. The battery life of A7/R is very short per charge as compared to a full DSLR.

Even with the vertical handgrip with 2 batteries.

Yeah I have the 58am flash also before and it did suffer from overheating specially for prolong used during event. good thing during the my cousin wedding it was out door so mainly I am using natural lighting to get some nice effect and shadows.

Eh... no... I was reading up on Sony's flash review and this was one of the issue that came up from one reviewers....

I am not on A7 but just considering it as a small compact system to pair with my Canon DSLR... I can survive event with just 1 Canon batt... cos it is not EVF....

I was considering the viability to jump system to Alpha, due to Zeiss lens primarily.... now... just think maybe get A7 as a compact walkabout instead....

The F43M is less powerful than the F60M but doesn't exhibit the same issues

Lucky for you it was an outdoor event...

I have the bad experience of experiencing shooting event (indoor) and have flash failure before.... lucky I have a backup one....

The flash that have problem, I brought to shop and have it exchanged...

If you are shooting event, normally, you go for the biggest flash the system have.... and one that link to external battery pack... so in this sense.... I think Canon flash is slightly ahead of Sony... hope Sony can resolve this issue too....
