yeah I am more keen on the faster CV21 :-) but it's pricey, the f4 seems good and I have cv35 so kinda having 2nd thoughts about it maybe the CV15? lolz

Both cv15 and cv21/4 really too problematic on even A7.
Smeared edges for at least 1/6 of frame.
I have already tried them via a friend who has them.

Maybe I switch to OM 21mm f3.5 then. Heard it's pretty good, small and light (less than 200g). Anyone tried it before?

thanks for the info bro I saw the 21/1.8 looks good but I have not really look at it closely

hmmm Oly glass are generally good lenses :-) even their Pen-F lenses seems to work with A7/r (some with slight vignette some with nothing at all)

Also cannot.... (Edit : this refers to CV21/3.5 a slr lens)
At least for me.
This lens characteristic is center sharp with lots of field curvature and much less sharpness off center.
Its pancake of course, which is the good part.

So if you plan to use this lens as a landscape lens or capture details than need all round sharpness, it's not the best candidate.

IMO, just get a slr 20/2.8.
Not ttoo ex, wide enough in most cases, f2.8 if needed, not much issues, still ok in size and still ok overall sharpness.
CV21/1.8 seems to work too, but more costly and back to square with the size.

My few cents

Edit :
Ok, sorry for misreading the lens as CV21/3.5 SLR version.
If its the Oly 21/3.5, a good comparison is here :

Still about the same conclusion to me though.
YMMV of course

I was the one bro who is keen of CV21/1.8 hehe still good reply

21/1.8 seems ok, but I've not done careful 100% check on internet samples since I don't plan to get one.

I updated the post with some info on the OM21/3.5 too.

The other thing I feel about OM21 and OM lenses in general is that they are expensive for an orphan mount, which is why I would rather settle for any other 20/2.8 or just get a CV21/1.8.

Erm Hollywood??

You sell to me... its a junk lens.... :D

Good point.

Back to pics :P

OM 24 @ f5.6 on my way back yesterday:

VC35 f1.4 with close focus:

Ok. Just to provide you guys a quick reference on the performance of the Voigtlander Ultron 21mm f1.8 Aspherical on A7 at landscape aperture range f5.6-f8 (although this lens is optimized for wide open shooting at f1.8: center sharpness is excellent at f1.8). These 2 shots taken hand-held at f5.6 and at f8 with the Sony Lens compensation app vignetting turned-on to +6 (maximum +16), Actually, at f8 there is almost no vignetting so no need to compensate. These 2 shots are out of camera Jpeg and I provide the link for the full size original image below each photo for further reference. No color shift correction or any further processing applied.

Sorry, no time to bring it out for a nicer shot! :(

Hope it help.
