Thanks. Still trying to find how best to bring out the swirly bokeh out. Seems it work best with tree canopy where the bokeh of light is oval.

A lens that used to be talked about pretty often on many forums, but seem to be forgotten nowadays.
Cheap, small, common and easily found, effective and reliable wrt other 135mm of its lineage. (ie. size, flare resistance, sharpness very good compared to 135mm lenses around the same time)

Appreciate the comparison . I find the pictures taken with the CV50 1.5 have more 'pop', more 3D. Maybe because of the better contrast?
The Mitakon definitely has very creamy bokeh

the voigtlander is definitely a more contrasty lens compared to the mitakon.. I find when shooting v near the subject, the thin dof ma be an overkill, like the one of the reindeer, so shallow that some of the bokeh balls cant even be seen. I think the lens comes into its own when you are halfbody or full body portrait distance away from the subject. The isolation you get from shooting this 50mm is 'almost' lke what you get from an 85mm f1.2 lens. But my FD 85 1.2 is way sharper haha

The Mitakon looks pretty good... Any bad CA wide open for the Mitakon shooting wide open especially against white outlines?

here are two photos one taken by Lux-80 and PORST 55/1.2

both taken just mins apart no changes in the lighting condition both shots as AWB but I like the skin tone rendering of Porst, it more natural for me Lux on the cooler side

yes, the CV50 does render more to the cool side, while the mitakon comparatively renders more to the warm side.no change in the lighthing. hehe its like how FD lenses tend to render more cool vs other lenses.

both have pro and con hehe... in yellow lighting the images from CV50 and FD85 will look better, while in the day they may look a little too cool

all my samples are shot wide open. The mitakon is very very good at controlling CA and purple fringing. almost none i can detect.

its weak spot from my usage so far is relatively poorer flare control, slightly softer at MFD of 50cm (but really quite impressively sharp from 70cm and 1m onwards for a 0.95 lens).

I notice that also with most of my fast primes wit the exemption of my Leica at MFD is not so good but at correct distance or we call them sweet spot it's sharp even the PORST 55/1.2 nd Canon FL 55/1.2 these lenses failed at MFD sharpness :-(

yes hehe....same goes for my EF 50 1.2L.... not so good at MFD but v good at portrait distances...the longer portraits do much better at MFD from 85 - 135mm onwards.

only exception is the OTUS 55 1.4 and sigma 50 1.4 ART.... very very sharp at MFD.

so when I 1st gotten these lenses typically you test it indoor shooting close to MFD just imagine how it felt seeing the image comes out soft... but like they said you only get to know someone if you spend more time with him/her

The f1.8 of FE55 is so thin that top parts of the yellow stamen (I think it's called) is blurred out. Either that or I didn't focus properly ...
