Hi everyone! Sometime lurker here.

So.. I recently understood focal length and started watching some Youtube photog vids. Have some interest in tinkering around with manual mode on my phone and 5 yo P&S.

Had been gianning the A6000 since I found out about it a couple of months ago as a viable upgrade, but then Sony decided to pop a new one after 2 years.

Today I finally bit the bullet and got the A6300. Awesome, awesome camera! Just wish the lenses weren't so darn expensive..

Sony lens are expensive =p

I also took the plunge yesterday and bought the a6300. My first impression is it looks exactly like an a6000 with very subtle differences such as the af/mf and ae lever (the one found on a7rii) and texture of the body construct. The main reason I bought it even though i have an a6000 is because of the focus flexibility and 8fps real time viewfinder. Other reason for others is the 4K video. If nope of the three matters to one, one is better off with getting the older a6000. Personally, i find focus flexibility important to me. A6000 has a lot af points but with limited focus mode wide, zone, centre and flexibility spot. I find it difficult to control where to focus and leave a lot of decision to the camera.

A6300 has added expanded flexible spot (I see this similar to Nikon implementation of group af, where surrounding af points assist the centre af for sudden movement of or difficult subject) (this also existing in a7rii) and expanded flexible spot af locked on (object tracking). The expanded flexible spot af on implementation is similar to the one in a77ii. Personally I feel that it is more superior than the one implemented in a7rii. Reason is a77ii track the subject via a group of af points while a7rii track subject as a whole (the green box). On paper, the af looks good but nothing beats on the ground testing. Will do some serious testing this evening and will share more. This is the only e-mount after Nex-5 that got me so excited.

i just played with the a6300 @ sony bugis...got a question to ask current a6300 users/those who played with it..

the shutter button, normally got 2 pressure right..one to AF, another to capture..

but the one @ sony bugis is damn soft, totally no pressure..its like just one press and it captures (the set was on AF-S)...

wondering if that particular set is just over-used or its meant to be like that?

Probably worn out? Mine definitely has half and full press.

I think it's too quick to have worn off though? The 6300 shutter on my set actually has better tension than the 6k. Though both does not take too much effort to activate af, but the 2nd press is definitely more springy.

May be just a pre-production product for display hehe

Does a6000 price drop after a6300 launch?

Hi guys,

Decided to get this camera and bought the SEL50F18 as well.

I mounted the lens the same manner as how I mount the kit lens. I set the camera to auto. The screen shows F-- and MF and wasn't doing any AF. Do I have configure any settings?

TIA.

The specs said it can do:
XAVC S 4K: 3840 x 2160 (30p/100Mbps, 30p/60Mbps, 24p/100Mbps, 24p/60Mbps)

Those who have bought this, can help to check, if you are taking video at 4K @ 30p/100Mbps, what is the max continuous duration you can record ?

Thanking you in advance ...

cheers

Try wiping the electronic contacts of the lens with a dry cloth, usually works for me.
If the F number doesn't shows, it is the contact point.

All capped under 30 minutes. So it's 29minutes and 59 seconds.
