Sony A33

From imaging resource @ iso3200... It's not the best performer at that but I wouldn't say it's noisy at such a high iso rating.

with some noise reduction, quite usable I think. (artifacts caused by jpg compression)

Anyway, try raw and process with neat image for better results.

That's my point. It's hard to find a camera that can shoot at high iso without noise. As much as possible I want to shoot at base iso.

The 3200 and 6400 iso is pretty useable from a practicable point of view . Compared to the iso performance in the older Sony sensors in a350 . I can't complain le

Thanks! i can understand chinese. hehe =P i cant wait.. that's the problem:bsmilie:

it says something about some multishot function to improve the ISO - is it a function that we have to select or it's by default?

Not default. You dont need it when you are say, in a bright environment. Only need it when u think the high ISO will bring on too much noise to your liking. It's a clever way to minimize noise.

:bsmilie: cuz i dont want to get sued for make defamatory remarks.. so.. =P

Jk.. but it was deliberate. you work in Courts ah?

No, ...but if you scare of getting sued, then dun make defamatory remarks ! :bsmilie:

Reminds me of a radio program I heard back in 1985 by Victor Khoo and Charlie !
They were doing a kids program and asked a 'street-smart' kid to name the female of a cockerel... :o

so i only need it say in very low lighting and i cant on flash? am i right to say that it's a function that can be "switched on" when i need to?

I was a former Canon 500D user, but switched to A33 in Oct & used it on my vacation for one week. The main lens I used is 18-250mm. I personally like sharp photos, so I pushed sharpness setting in A33 to max, ie #3. In Canon 500D, I pushed to max sharpness #7. My assessment so far is that Canon 500D with kit lens is sharper than A33 with 18-250mm lens. I changed 18-250mm lens to 50mm prime, & the results are the same, ie, photos of A33 are not as sharp as 500D. The A33 pictures in DPReview are definitely sharp, so I'm wondering if my 'problem' is due to lens or the body itself. I'm thinking of purchasing a CZ 16-80mm lens to test for sharpness.

Has anyone had a similar experience like mine, ie comparing sharpness of Canon/Nikon with A33/A55? Thanks.

PS: Can some one teach me how to insert photos in post? I tried the instructions in CS but didn't work. When I clicked on "Insert", dialog window asks for URL. My photos are in harddrive, so what is the URL?

There are some more simple way to test your case
- why not try to test using focus chart?
- instead of buying 1680z, you can go to sonystyle and asks to try out this 1680z - using your camera. By design, 1680z is sharp - and I one of the witness. Or you can try another lens (another copy of 18250 maybe?)

PS: For uploading pics, there are FAQ in this forum

The CS instructions are very clear on uploading the pics to an online gallery first. What instructions were you reading?

why not join one of the Sony outings, we can help you test your cam.

The FAQ for inserting a file reads:

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

First, there is no 'Manage Attachments' button below msg box. Second, after I clicked on 'Attachment' icon, there isn't a 'Browse' button. There is only a dialog box to enter the URL of website. So I can't attach a picture from my harddisk. The 2nd para says that I can attach a file from my computer. Am I missing something?

When is the next Sony outing?

I heard that one... lol... Victor asked a kid on radio what's the opposite of a ****. He expected the answer "hen". At first the kid was very shy - he said cannot say the word - but Victor coaxed him. Finally the kid answered in Hokkien - CB (go figure).

The radio was cut off with pipe music until they sort things out.

HAhaa..

When is the next Sony outing?

Ah, I see, you're reading the basic help of the forum default software, but not the Newbies FAQ:

1. In the Newbies corner is a sticky called "Forum-related FAQs and Other Useful Info for Newbies"
2. In there is this link:

When is the next Sony outing?

There's one on the 26th, but it had limited slots.

Otherwise, you can always meet up with one of us for TCSS and camera testing. What area do you live in?
