depends. the article itself is very vague.

1: who did the caning? i'm under the impression its not the principal cause in article, they did mentioned teachers are not allowed to cane.

2: what was the offense? if son has argued with teacher and threw a tantrum, its not gonna be a caning, but perhaps counseling and demerit points at most.

3: for caning to occur, usually its when u do bodily harm to someone, or u really broke the rules like hacking to sch database.

i'm under the impression that the incident was covered up.


oh yea. for caning to occur, parents have to be informed first. before caning can be done if i remember. anyone has the official rules?

Ya lor. Even though my school doesnt cane the students, they will still smack the hands of the naughty students with a ruler. i kanna once(wrongfully) and i told my parents. Got a lecture from them instead cos they believe the school will not smack my hands without a good reason!
Next time if that kid appear in court, will the parents confront the judge for sending their son to jail? :think:
If the teacher call my kid names like "stupid", "dumb" , "useless" then i will speak to the school. No need to confront unless they dont understand why they cant do that. words like "lazy", "playful" is all right lah.
