Sometimes, assess situation and don't always follow instructions

Hindsight talk is cheap

Ask ourselves when is a fire drill for real or just one of those wayang exercises ?

Yeah, armchair experts always know what to do, always say should have done this, should have done that AFTER the event has happened.

Sometimes, its do also die, don't do also die, especially when we do not have critical information or have full control over the situation.

It's a timely reminder.

Common sense may not always prevail if there is a lack of information or knowledge.

Now we know that if you ever meet a disaster on a ship, at least go to the deck and see what is happening and not wait in your rooms. Same as a fire, or other emergencies, find out more facts and do not always infer to authorities.

Sadly most Asians are taught to wait and follow orders. They seldom think for themselves

This is not the 1st time ferry disaster happened. History seem to repeat itself, it usually took the lives of many innocent people before safety regulations are enforce religiously. I hope the Koreans do not forgot this tragedy too quickly. If not, another group of young innocent lives will be lost.

In Asia, particularly China, Japan and Korea - people are indoctrinated to obey instructions especially if it is from a so-called authority figure.

Maybe this has something to do with Confucianist doctrine.

In singapore too. You are not supposed to u-turn unless you see a u-turn sign, ya? You are not supposed to cross the road unless the green man is flashing, even though there is no cars on the road at that moment. You hv to stop at two else be fined. blah blah and blah

Talk of survivors is politically correct. Public figures dare not say outright the obvious.

The relatives and parents of passengers demand that the government send divers into the ship to look for "survivors".
They do not allow the 5 cranes to lift the ferry.
They are being inconsiderate to the divers.

It is a dangerous dive that can take the life of the divers. 1 has died already.

Diving into an upside down ship that has loose heavy equipment, maze-like passage ways in total darkness.
If they cannot find their way out, they will die from lack of air.
Worse, the whole ferry is moving with the strong current.
This is more dangerous than cave diving.

The ferry captain should be executed.
