erm... i need some help on this camera. according to the literature online, the 45HD takes lens boards 8cm x 8cm. and only particular lenses fit this camera, at least according to the tech specs.

so, does that mean that while the lens may be compatible with the 45HD like this , if it uses a Sinar board, it will not work on the 45HD? sorie for a noob question. this is my first foray into LF camera and not much info is online abt the 45HD....

this Horseman 45HD camera is a field camera, using a smaller lens board, so that the camera able to fold up very compact for transport and using in the field.
the Sinar lens board is a standard lens board, usually using on view cameras with mono rail.

btw, since the bellow of field camera can only extend limited distance, so only able use very limited focal length lenses

hope this help.

yeah... a number of articles wrote that for 45HD, the lenses need to be removed while the camera collapses. no wonder the official spec sheet is a little sparse on the lenses that can fit. i am quite keen to try those old lenses on ebay. but without knowing what lens boards etc... it is a little daunting trying to find out more info since there is not much out there about really old lenses.

the lens/lens board need to remove before you able fold up the camera,
and due to the limited distance the bellow able to travel, ultra wide angle lenses and long tele lenses are not suitable to use on this camera, or may need special/delicated lens board.

the normal Horseman lens boards accept Copal #1 or Copal #0 shutter, so you find lenses come with Copal #1 or Copal #0 shutter should be fine.
btw, if you shoot with 4x5 film, the 150mm lens is the standard lens focal lenght, if you shoot 6x7 format with 120 film, than 90mm is the standard lens focal length.

Catchlights has a good point about the limited bellows draw for the Horseman 45HD which I read is about 249mm. To focus a 210mm lens at infinity, you need a bellows draw of 210mm. To focus on something nearer then you will need a longer bellows draw which on this camera limited to 249mm. So I guess you will be safe if you look at 90, 135,150, 180 and 210mm. The modern lenses of such focal length are usually using Copal 0 or 1 (size of hole on lensboard) shutter.

I usually have one lens board for each lens. You can buy them from this bay seller

For your info; movement is limited with wide angle lens 75/65 mm with filed camera. and you probably need a recessed lens board.

HI Nightwolf

Just reread this thread.
The bellows of yr cam should be able go up to 249mm. You should be able to use yr 150mm with ease unless you are trying to focus on something very near that requires a longer bellow draws.
