From which gang are you????

Broken Tooth

unless you are being subjected to bodily harm. otherwise it is very difficult to justify such violent action .
got psychoed during NS to kill enemies + trained to do so thus the instinct became an auto response to threats????

ah well, leave it to the lawyers to fight with words.

The lady who walked outside and carried her handbag outside got snatched.

Malaysia :dunno:

Sorry, where the security is concerned, i have given up any hope from their Home Ministry's promises. What Iskandar investments? No way i am going to put in a ringgit!

Actually this can happen any where, any country, any time.
Although I know deep inside that it is not foolproof, but I have my gears strapped down w R-straps, and Holsters.
Being heavy and tight, it may discourage 'snatching'.
But of course, they can still easily cut off the straps and grab the cameras.

safer to let them have your gear, if they are on bikes.
a lot of people that refuse to let go end up with dislocated shoulders or dragged on the street and lose skin

Most of my Malaysia friends had already gave up hope on their police force.

Actually i had always find the street of Malaysia have lots to offer when come to photography, but the security issue there is so bad that i never want to venture into.....

In Bangkok i can just hang my camera walking on the street after mid night without too much worries.....but in Malaysia, even board daylight is a no no for me.

Never did like that place so what if everything is cheaper there, getting mugged, beaten or
whatever is not worth the 'cheap' rates and ending paying expensive medical treatments
back home or worst ending up dead :nono:for me period.

Crime Rate (per 1,000 pop.) in 2002

Singapore : Malaysia = 7.7 : 9.3

* Malaysia's has 20.8% higher crime rate than in Singapore per capita)

Prices - UBS Survey 2002 (using Zurich = 100)

79.1 : 42.5

* It will cost you less 46.3% to live in Malaysia than in Singapore- even when using the country's capital, Kuala Lumpur, as the standard).

Using the crime rate as an incentive to persuade on the choices seems to favour Malaysia greatly. :)

Do you really think you can take on a Parang? You know how long it is? Don't make jokes about this, I have a good friend who was slashed a few times on her shoulder and her knee, she almost bled to death.......

HS

i know how long is a parang bro... and am not making a joke about this! if there are 2 or 3 persons armed with a parang robbing me, most probably, it's game over... but if it is a one on one, especially with lots of space... why not, i'd rather die fighting than screaming in fear and still dying!

You numbers don't tell the whole truth. If the crime rate numbers are for the whole country then it's reasonable to assume that the kampung places will have lower crime rates and cities like KL and JB will have higher. Even within KL and JB the touristy areas would have an even higher crime rate compared to the suburbs. How much higher? Going by the number of negative reports I wouldn't be surprised if it is 100% higher or more.

To go to Malaysia for a holiday is very different from going there to stay. Although foodstuff are cheaper, transport is not. Since public transport is atrocios most families have at least 2 cars - 1 for papa 1 for mama and maybe 1 more for the child if he is old enough to drive. Dollars and cents aside the environment that you will be living in will be very different. I don't want to have to walk pass a rubbish heap to go to the shop or invest thousands in car alarm systems because I'm scared someone will steal my car.

Singapore still the best

how likely to kana snatch if use handphone camera?
