Clark Quay, a slight tilt

Taken with 6 stops ND and a +4 soft step GND used reversed to hold back the bright reflections.

Did not set to 8 stops ND (+ another of my +4 ND making up to 12 stops ) because i forgot to bring my watch cannot time the length of exposure ... and 30 seconds from my D80 simply doesn give enough exposure. Else I would expect the surface to be much less rippled and smooth.

Hi ryan i like this photo as well as the storm one :) This one looks as though the boat is a toy and the storm, there is something missing but i think it's well captured. It does not give the urgency feel.

thx for ur comments labla.

There is a nagging feeling that I felt shooting from a higher perspective might give me a more interesting vantage point. I was only shooting opposite the boat. The 85mm acted abit way too telephoto. Also if i could time a longer exposure with higher ND stops I might be able to eliminate the residual ripples.

i like the effect on the waves in the foreground! ;p

Glad u liked it zoren!
I found the bits of rain splatters onto the waves adding abit more to the mood of the picture as well.

A rainy boat ride to Ubin.
The surprise drizzle halfway got us totally drenched.

stunning!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
you even managed to keep the horizon level!

Just wondering, the "toy" effect, is it unique to TS lenses or can it be achieved with minimal PP on a normal lens?

Can try to mimick. but if you realise the principle behind the Scheimpflug effect, it is impossible to do a full replication on PS simply because you will actually need to blur according to distance from the focus and the height of the individual subjects from the slanted plane. ( as for the later i cannot imagine how to do it in PS.. )

After some shots i realised somehow the oof areas are slightly laterally distorted along the plane as well. ( look at the way the oof lights are rendered in #9 )

Not sure of minimal PP cause I have never tried it before. There are a couple of people on this forum here that processed it pretty nicely as well.

A stitch of 6.
Taken before the skies turned dark

* could not help the motion blur of the hotair balloon from the longer exposure

notice your trend of blackening your blacks and using very high contrast. must have been intended but sort of personally miss the old style..

Thanks for your astute observation.

Lately trying different things of sorts hoping not to get entrenched in any style. After all I haven been shooting for long. Might veer again when I find something interesting to learn.

* As to saturated ( urban ) shots, I made a few large prints for photoframe for my new place. Kinda addicted to the processing outcome for now :)
