Always attempted by almost all photographers, local and tourist......

these pics have some noise when viewed at full size (not these resized pics)....

Pls recommend ways to improve my skills, composition and stuff.....thanks...I NEED THEM!!!!

Hi, you might like to close in a little for your shots. Night shots tend to have huge black spaces on top & below for such wide angle shots.

Did you use high ISO?

Hmm. Looks a bit out-of-focus.

either oof or handshake
was a tripod used?
exif data was discarded, so can't have any information on your shots
care to share?

close in? what do u mean? zoom in or crop?

nah...using ISO 100. a bro (Rashkae) viewed the pics and say it's normal for 30sec exposure....

hehe....yah... i thot my camera was defective til i notice (after zooming in 100% on the original pic) that it was due to vibration even when i mount the camera on the tripod.... so i guess it's either vibration on the ground, railings (not sure if the tripod had any contact with the railings), shutter vibration (?) or maybe the tripod trembling under the weight of the camera???

will try again taking other places....

>> night86mare, what exif information are u looking for? i will try to pull out the relevant information... summary: ISO 100, F/18, 30sec, AWB, Aperture Priority, mostly 18mm focal length, mounted on tripod, using 2 sec self-timer

hi guys....

thanks for viewing my first pic posts here.....any recommendations on how to improve my shots? lower exposure time? composition?

try not to shoot smaller aperture than f/16
diffraction softens image too, though probably not to this extent here

did you use the mirror lock up function together with timer delay release
if not when you press the button to release, will vibrate, and continue vibrating after that
and when the mirror flips up will vibrate further or something, not too smart on the technical aspect of camera working, but the mirror will move la

that could explain the softness in your images

or actually might be jpg compression, not sure :dunno: could be any reason heh

ah ha.......that could be the reason!!! i wonder how to do the mirror lock up for my camera? got to check the manual.....

ahaha not sure, ask rashkae da man
my k100d has it coupled with timer, why i love it :bsmilie:

ya, coupled with the timer function
POISON POISON POISON

i have checked my manual..... the only clue i found is that the timer function will make the mirror pull up first.

however, i got 2 sounds when i press the shutter. one sound after i press then another sound approximately 2 secs later.....why so many sounds?

after you press
the mirror snaps up

and another one is aperture blades adjusting, i expect

like i said, not very sure, but there are usually two motions when you press the button, so when you do mirror lockup it is split up to minimize vibration =)

eh but i think even with out lock up and just shooting from the tripod also cannot be this blur right?...

remote used? or u stand so close to the tripod and u accidentally touched it

not impossible
especially if his tripod's centre column is extended

today i was shooting ir, trying to shoot fast because hdr, so lazy, never put timer
one of the shots i got was way blurrer than this
anything is possible, depends on how violent you press your shutter release button, etc

i guess more important here, instead of finding out what went wrong
is finding out how to do it right =)

Hmm...the pics looked really soft and lack contrast. Like some others have said, you might want to zoom in a bit to eliminate all the black areas.

You can also try to take the photos when the sky is not totally dark....try it around 6.45 to 7.00 pm, while there is still a little light and the sky is turning a very dark shade of blue. You can get very lovely purplish and deep blue skies. It makes the image more interesting.

The photos look soft could be due to your setup was not stable.

When shooting long exposure or night photography, try to use shutter release cable or timer mode. As for what aperture to use, you can try bracketing from f8 to f22.

new lesson everytime i opened a thread in cs..
and could not agree more on that line................................

When i load the thread, I thought those where from a mobile phone.

Don't use Aperture Priority. use Manual instead, set aperture between F8 to F11. Exposure would depend on the brigtness of the subjet. Self timer set at least 5sec.
