Thanks, I am using a D40x currently.. I had read thru some sticky thread.
Can I just use a external IR filter instead of moding my camera ?
So after I use IR filter , I still need to post-process at step 3 ?

I have not tried D40x with filter , but generally should be ok,
you just need longer exposure time
you may want to ask around those that have tried before.
because the aa filter in front of the sensor is still blocking some IR wavelength

Yes, you need to pp if you want to get the blue sky / BnW
the original version is in brownish tone

I am trying a cheap eBay IR filter on my A350. I am using that because I want to ascertain my interest and check which lens of mine works with IR. If either one turns out unfavourable, then my venture into IR may take a while longer to realise. Problem with the filter is super duper long exposure time and difficulty in getting the correct WB :( Mod is still the way to go if one is really interested and has a spare body :)
