Hi All.
What is stepping?
Sometimes I hear people say, "that photo has good stepping" ?
Or what is a step?
thanks!
I'm missing something basic
stepping.....
place the photos on the floor,
pull your body weight on the stronger leg,
rise the other feet,
step on the photos as hard as you like....![]()
I think it's about camera lens stepping rings.
you should ask there and then,Sorry about this.
I think I just confused myself..

I was thinking along those lines too... but if there are 'steps', isn't that not so pleasing...? Some people call it banding or posterization, am I right?you should ask there and then,
anyway, possible and closer meaning could be the tonal steps
it is not a really having steps, but rich in tonal range, like in shadow areas is not block up, and also highlight area not white wash, still able to see detail in it.I was thinking along those lines too... but if there are 'steps', isn't that not so pleasing...? but then it doesn't fit into the context of this sentence "....this photo has good stepping..."The closer i can think of is "stop" a lettle away from "step" =)

I think whoever said that has ZERO knowledge of photography and was just trying to sound cheem by dropping a phrase that they thought applies.
