Hello, thanks for your interest in this post. I was refered here by Mr Rory Daniels, and I am heartened to see that there is so much interest and passion in photography here in Singapore! Thanks Rory! I have seen some of the pictures here and I must admit that among you guys, there would definitely be some that would rank among the world's best photographers one day. If you are not yet there, it's definitely not your fault... it's just that your moment is not yet here. Only a matter of time. Keep it up!

I am looking for someone to assist me and my colleague take some simple pictures. We would like to include our pictures for the next marketing campaign, so we need someone to take some good outdoor shots of us in our suits. That's it. Pretty simple and straightforward.
We smile, and you shoot. Maybe a 10 minute or so job. Probably we can take about 30 shots (full/half portrait) on my SD Card using your camera and I will go home and blow up the pictures up on my computer to select the best one to send to the printer.

Just a quick job. As payment, we can arrange for you to have the brochures for you to build up your portfolio. Or a token fee. Or we can buy you lunch. Whichever works for you, works for us! :D

If you would like to take up this offer, please respond! your.top.realtor@gmail.com

Thank you!

bro, i am not sure if i am being sensitive... i have to admit i suck at photography

anyhow i felt that you just insulted the whole community of photograhpers from singapore...

Thanks for your compliment, we are feel so honored.

You may just go straight to the point:
“I want it FAST, GOOD and CHEAP”

cause we are very used to these, make it sound any nicer will not change much about the natural of your request.

Thanks, but no thanks

you meant those flyers that usually end up in rubbish bin? :dunno: what u think will works might not works :bheart:

You do your job, I do mine. Why teach me how to run my show? The majority of people who spend the money for their leaflets to end up in bins do not know what they are doing, that's why their ads end up in bins.

And why teach me what to write? You people seem like a strange lot. I came here with good intentions, and started off praising some pictures that I thought was really nice... and you guys come on and start a flame fest? Haven't been praised for a long time? I don't know what is eating you guys. Stop being so suspicious.

It doesn't have to be cheap. :nono: It can be free too. I already have quite a few people responding. I realise those who speak the loudest usually has nothing of value to contribute.

The thing is to: suspend your judgement.
If the pictures turn out good, do you think I will not refer paying customers to you? One of my colleague also wants to do nude photography, and is willing to spend $2000 on it. Is that free? Not really. After I know you, may I introduce you to my customers who are getting married, bought a house and need a photographer? Or anyone else for that matter? Certainly.
Guys, Why choose to be judgemental and shortsighted? No one benefits.

I do agree sir. Sometimes I think we are a little bit too sensitive. What do you think people? Honestly, I think the first post from mrproperty seems like an innocent request to me.

sure someone will take up the job, even it maybe free, it maybe be paid, it maybe just token sum only.

I read from his post, I conclude this job is call for FAST, GOOD and CHEAP. am I being judgemental?

My take on this (just my personal view as a commercial photographer):

Mr Property only wants shots for his leaflets, not the interior design of the homes. Thus lower res cams will do. Secondly DLSR will do better jobs because of the use of various lenses. Fast because the current home owners may not want the home to be "invaded" by strangers and their equipment. Next, this is just a PR typed shoot not a real commercial shoot.

On the other hand, MrProperty being a good sales person has sweet honey in his mouth to flatter you. He knows the real cost and time of a pro commercial shoot which will blow his commission and raise his overheads. I'm not calling him a conman but that he's a true blue businessman who has counted his cost.

Therefore, I will suggest you guys treat it like any event shoot and would charge by the hour and bring your tripods, using long exposure, bracketing the shoots. Shoot in mid res JPEGs to give more shoots. As for MrProperty bring a big SD / CF card (2Gb at least to get as many shots) and CF as many of the good DSLRs uses CF.

I hope this helps

Thanks for all the response. tommon, you are right, it is not a home shot at all. Just a corporate pic of my colleague and me.

however, tommon, nothing to do with honey in mouth or any such conjectures..... .
I simply really liked some of the shots that I see here. Why is it so tough for the photographers to accept someone actually liking what they do? That, I will never understand... seems that there are too many skeptics here? I mean... why be so hard on yourself. I like some pics and I say so, that's all.

My associates and I have certainly taken portraits that cost more than a month's wage for some people. Actually this is to be used in the leaflets... there will be pictures of houses and data, and our copywriting on it.... and we will be photoshopping it... so there is no need to get the pros to do it, since the pictures will only take up a part of the artwork.

I probably can get a friend to help me shoot if I wanted to, using his SLR... . (but he is not interested to become a full time photographer)

However, I just wanted to make it mutually benefitting for others who want to be full time or who are full time.... like I was discussing with a fellow photographer who apologise on the behalf of others... .
I just wanted to offer these people value in return for value.... such as referrals.... a token payment, something for their portfolios, etc... . I have tons of colleagues who might be looking for photographers. Or newly weds asking me for someone to recommend. If I can help, of course I will and it will feel good to know that I helped.
All that beats just thanking my friend over a beer, though I know that he would have done a satisfactory job for me.

I like arts and would just like to give the heads up to and offer something for fellow Singaporeans who are on their way up.... . Why make it so tough for me? I don't understand the cannibalistic behaviour exhibited on the board, neither do I want to.

Anyways... I have found the people I need, so thanks for all the interest.

I hope you guys really enjoy what you do. And be ready for and accepting of genuine compliments.

P.S. If you are not good in photography yet, then be sure I was not talking about your pictures nor was I referring to you at all.
The ones whose pictures I thought were great never replied openly to this thread at all.

Hope that solves your inner questionings.

nope i am not flaming you cos of how cheap you may be.... i dont care about how much i am paid... i have a professional day job like yourself

so even if i do it for free, as long you are you polite i will consider...

what do you mean by "one day"? do you mean to say that today we have no photographer worthy to be ranked amongst the top photographers?

and when "one day" comes... we will definitely have "some" that wound be ranked among the world's best photographers ?

do you think you are being very rude with the way you phrase your words? i am not sure about the others but i really feel insulted as a singaporean...

those that are truely good and hold their peace are.... HUMBLE....

now humble yourself and explain what you mean by "one day"

thank you very much...

just in case i am taking this too personally... i have decided to hold my peace as well...

you dont have to reply... i apologise for being so worked up...

good luck and enjoy yourself in CS...

i hope that your shoot goes well and you get the shots that you want.
But please note that your description above "we smile you shoot. Maybe a 10 minute or so job." is way too simply.
It take more than a monkey pressing the shutter at the right time to get a good shot.
If it is just a "simple pictures" that you are looking for then all is well.

I hope you reward the "person pressing the shutter" well.
after all he did save you quite a bit of money. :)

I think this is a fantastic opportunity for all those "looking for TFCD to expand/build-up portfolio" photographers. Not often do you get to shoot corporate type shots for TFCD ... and what's more, it will go into print and you can put that as a real-life portfolio rather than just shoot for the sake of the models.

Thank about it .... TFCD need not be all models/models want-to-be right ... ??? Aren't these real people / real-life experience better?
