i normally dun buy stuff from sls except for computer parts of course.

one known technique of rouge sales person is to quote you below or about cost on the item you want to buy, then after that tell you that another model/brand is better blah blah blah. of couse this model/brand in which you did not do any research on is quoted more expensive then elsewhere. if you insist on buying the one that you want, they just tell you no stock.

another technique is to sell you the stuff inside the box you are supposed to get for free. say for example the camera you intend to buy comes with a free 1 gb sd card. they will tell you not included and you must oay for it.

Very good summary. If you do a search on Sim Lim in the forums, you will see that it is not recommended to buy cameras there.

I went to cathay, Ap, mscolor and john3:16 before. All got good service. Maybe I am lucky to meet those good salesman.

If you like to get your balls lick then CP is the best among all .
But don't get too close and personal with their salesmen because they suckzzzz ....
If you want to get good price AP will never fail you .
But what you need to do is to check the price around before buying from them and the best person to talk to is a mid 40 years old guy who has a sexy voice and he is quite skinny , just go up to him tell him what you want and just tell him in his face that he had to sell you 5 dollar cheaper than CP , he will be very happy to sell the item to you . However AP is most heaven for those with photography experience as we do not need any explaination from their sale staff but instead we get cheaper price.
MS is a place where we call friendly like the old Fotoguide.
Price is in between AP ant CP .

Alan Photo & John 3:16 are both located on the 5th floor of Funan Center. Cathay Photo can be found on the ground floor of Peninsular Plaza & the 2nd floor of Marina Square.

i just called AP and CP..they dont have stock of canon28-135! its only two things the lens sells really fast or not at all..that's why they dont keep stocks!

SLS Shop owners' attitudes suck big time if you are buying something small (filters, batteries). One was clearly only interested in my cash. ****ed up. ;( I had a terrible experience at SLS. Headed straight for Funan and got what I want.

I was just looking at the monopods with my friend, when suddenly he came over and asked, "how can I help?"

So I casually asked him the price of one monopod, 'cause we were like wondering how much it cost.

Then the guy asked me straight in the face, "So you want to buy anot?"

I answered, "No", and his face changed.

"Then you come here disturb me only lah?!" he scolded, and then gave me a f***ked up face before walking back to the counter.

And I didn't even ask him to come and serve us in the first place. :dunno:

Ha ha as most shop dun get much commission from SONY. And most of the people dun believe Sony camera can take good pic.

Since everyone is talking about shops in SLS, i would like to share about some that con foreigners. Some time ago, I bought a brand new Nikon DSLR from a foreigner via Clubsnap here. As I paid by instalment, I only manage to complete the transaction recently.

Hence, I took over whatever is remaining of the stuff. At that time of sale, I gotto know that he was kinda con by the shop at level 1, as the total sales price is higher than the market price by around SGD500+. Items he got includes camera, flash, dry box and Hi-V wide/macro converter.

Those who knows SLS well will be able to guess the name of the shop liao. Be careful when purchase from them. Got a local friend ever tried asking them about the price of the D200 (body only), they quote him SGD 2,600.

Go to MS Color at AMK. They have just set up the Sony Gallery next to the shop at S11 food court. even the Alpha 700 is showcased there. Was there last Friday and yesterday.

I've bought camera and camera accessories from this 3 shops.
AP @ SLS, Orient @ SLS, MS Color @ AMK Hub.

Of this 3, MS Color gives me the best experience.
I'll definitely go back to that shop.

Orient, they're friendly people.
I do not know y nobody recommend them, but after comparison of price, they're really one of the cheapest.
And they're nice to me too.

AP, most of them are arrogant.(My experience la.)
They recommend you things that they want to clear, but the price is either still the same or more expensive!!!
So, I'll never go back to that shop again.

All this happened to me in left than 5months.

My experiences la...
Maybe everyone have different experiences.
