I think asking the 2nd shop for the pricing is not a good comparison, as we all know SLS shops like to use the bait and switch tactics, and the shop might actually be under quoting that camera, and only when the person wants to buy at the price, the salesman might come up different pattern.

Furthermore, I assume the person also bought the converters and memory card, and without comparing exact brand, there could be price difference as well. A sandisk and a no brand 32GB, or class 2 vs class 10 could be a huge price difference.

A baseline would be what is the actually recommended retail price, and then at least compare to the bigger shops like Harvey Norman, Courts, etc.
