What's the shop name?
There's only a trust-worthy shop in Sim Lim, in my opinion. And that is Alan Photo.
Even then, you have to do your homework first when gg there, meaning know the market prices of the stuff you want to buy first.
There, they will not give you the best pricing right away, you have to bargain real hard. Their attitude is ok, and may not be that pleasant at times.
Get an equote from them first.
The rest of the shops in Sim Lim, pls stay away.
I saw a Nikon D60 selling at $835, kit. Seemed a bit too good to be true. Forgot to ask if it came with warranty.
I had bad experience with both Alan Sim lim, Cathay Peninsula , and De luxe Peninsula.
1. When I saw a promotion at Alan website that quote D40 kit with 2 GB and Nikon bag bonus for 799 I go there and talk to the shopkeeper that I interested with the promotion and I want to buy the D40, and you know what they say? "you have to print the promotion page and showed it to me" (I'm not seeing that information in the website) and I said that my house is far and he just said lightly "you go to the internet cafe and then print there and then come back here to show me the promotion page" inside my mind I said are you crazy??? I'm here to buy not to ask for free and you told me to do something ridiculous. I just go out the store and promise my self that I will never gonna buy something from you again.
2. Before I go to Alan I call Cathay to ask for D40 price, and they said that the price is 750 with tripod bonus, I talk to the lady that I will come to buy it but I don't need the tripod, can I change it with another bonus? she said no, I said ok, I want to buy SD card and standard bag for my D40 so how much? she said that 2 GB card is 40 and standard bag is 45, after hearing that I just feel so awful and decided not to buy there.
3. Finally I go to De luxe at Peninsula and after bargaining the deal price is 800, but after I paid it suddenly he said that my D40 need UV filter and he just couple the uv to my lens and ask 30 for a 10 dolar vitacon uv filter and his face is so sour that I better to pay it.
So my conclusion is I haven't found a honest and friendly in Singapore. :thumbsd:
to be frank, for someone who complains so much you seem very meek when it comes to dealing with salesmen.
put down your foot, have a backbone. if you can argue with the cathay lady, i don't see why you don't want to argue with de luxe.
shops have reasons for promotion. you got ntuc, their rice bag give free bakeware, you got try to ask cashier to see if they can swap for something you need, like chocolate or not? to be honest, you are not being reasonable in 2. cheers.
Number 3.. If you don't want to buy, dont have to.. Everytime they try and sell me a filter, i will just say no...
AP SLS has been good to me, AP funan not so good..
So my conclusion is I haven't found a honest and friendly in Singapore. :thumbsd:
There is a very good and trustworthy shop but their prices are not the lowest, but you know that you will never be cheated by them... and that is John 3:16 at Funan. Their prices are normally slightly higher, but you will get honest, friendly and good service.
However, if you are only looking for a bargain, i.e. must get at lowest price, then you would need to deal with the likes of some people you have encountered previously. The question you have to ask yourself is whether you would rather save $20 or get good friendly and honest service? The decision is yours...
Yeah I agree with you, $20 cheaper is not worthed. Next time I will try 3:16, I heard their good reputation too.
Thanks
