Sigma 50mm f1.4 - new batch = outstanding performer

in my opinion , this is the best for portrait

Anyone with experience of this lens on crop? Seems like most users of this lens are using FF and those on crop are using the 30 f1.4...I am leaning more towards getting this set too when I go Hong Kong.....but I am on crop.

I notice the picture is a bit soft. Could it be front focusing issue?

You're right dude. It is soft due to front focussed issue.

Merry Christmas :)

Yes, agreed. Saving my money to buy this lens..
Borrowed the lens from my friend again and took this picture, taken wide open and did a minor pp:

Hi all, i would like to check if it's normal for a face portrait of a baby to be partially soft at a working distance of less than 2 ft, at f1.4..

best to show the picture so everyone can determine for you. sounds like with focus is off or handshake.

Normally, you would not have any focussing problem with this lens. User needs to control this little monster as depth of field is very shallow at f1.4. A 2cm difference will make the intended focus point blur.

These 4 shots were taken recently using an old S3 Pro camera with aperture wide open at f1.4.

Last but not least, I would say YES, Sigma 50f1.4 is an outstanding performer, cheap and good. What do you think?
