Usually camera manfacturers will make 50mm f1.8 a cheap lens to get but not the case for nex which costs about $420. The price is a bit difficult to shallow if i don't use much. The sigma 30mm at around $250 will a better buy.

it was my first time buying lens and i got the sigma 30mm 2.8 for my nex 5n, so forgive me if i'm asking a stupid question
the thing is that the lens, when tilted has this "knock" sound.
and i took it out from the nex and put the lens upside down and back up.
apparently the lens inside, seen from the back, is the one causing the sound. it's loose in my opinion, like when you shake it, the lens inside moves up and down.
i don't see this in my 18-55 or my pancake lens
should i return it or is this normal??

imagine quality wise Sigma 30mm F2.8 or SEL 50 F1.8 is better ? still considering either one of the lens.
personally i can't compare between them as it has a very diff focal length..
but i do prefer the images that the 50mm produces..
its a pity that it is not something wider..
really hope Sony comes out with a lens of shorter focal length and larger aperture..
a 35mm F1.4 will do just fine..

Like comparing apples to oranges, one is great for general photography and the other is great for portriature.

I wish to do the same but out-of-stock... That's the problem with the NEX system...
Get BOTH! and that's what I did!
i waited for over a month for the stocks to arrive!! :/.
i ordered mine a month ago from MS but till today haven't got back to me yet. called up last week, stock supposed to arrive this week but no news from them leh.
anyhow, i just tried my luck calling up cathay ts, and alan photo.
alan photo told me got one sigma left so i reserved. next day stock arrived for sel50!
try alan photo!
Just called Cathay and Alan (Sim Lim and Funan) this morning - No stock for the Sigma 30mm.
