Wow. That's fast. I got mine from SLRR just 2 weeks ago. Guess with the lack of variety of e-mount lenses, people just grab any new e-mount lens launched in the market.

Yup that's true. And also this lens is value for money.

Cheap and sharp.

Not only e-mount lens, other new toys are low in stock too, D800/E, Nex 7, Nex 5, OMD and so on.....

That just shows...everybody is buying cameras now. lol.. true enough..
They are everywhere.

It is the dragon year. Every going-to-be father will need a camera. hahha... I am one of them.

The 30mm F2.8EX does take nice baby pic,at least to my eye.

Most of the time i am just camping by the bed to take "head shot" of her expression.

Cheap in term of e-mount lens. Not exactly cheap compared to Sony easy choice lens for a mount eg SAL50f18 and SAL35F18. Well it is the best we have so far and it is good for me.

If u buy a mount + the adapter then the cost will easily exceed the cost of the e mount.. it increases in size too..

Like u said.. its the best at the moment.. still very few native e mount lens..so no choice..

I meant to compare pricing of sel50f18 with sal50f18, sel18200 with sal18250, sel55210 with sal55200 etc. e-mount lens pricing is always higher than its bigger brother a-mount.

The sigma 30mm is a good one. Let hopes 3rd party lens manufacturer can bring us more affordable and good lens:)

Cathay, MS all no stock :( ....

On a side note, Alan Photo Sim Lim still has the Sigma 19mm f2.8. Any comments why this was not considered?

Probably cos the general consensus is that 30 is a better walkabout lens with a more pleasing focal length.

Anyway, I've been tracking this lens for the past 3 weeks, Alan, Cathay, TK, SLR, Orient, MS Color, PariSilk, all no stocks and most have no indication when they'll be getting any. It's always "try next week".

Oh well.

Been checking out both the 19mm n 30mm , am looking around for a lense thats not too far off from the size of the 16mm and still get to keep af ,the 16mm that came with the dual lense kit just does not pack that much punch and dont wanna be using the bigger lenses all the time, size was actually the reason i chose the 5n to the k-01..For those who would use the 5n or 7 for videos as often as taking stills, came across a video sample of a 19mm on a nex 5n and the 30mm on a nex 7..
From both video clips ,both seem to suffer badly from jittery videos while in af mode, manual focusing would solve the problem but then again hmmmm... I think its worth a watch if AF during videos would be part of your consideration..

not sure if anyone has posted this

*sorry for the broken links, not allowed to post links yet so do merge the links yourselves

Nex 5n 16mm vs sigma 19mm
(skip straight to 1.52 mark , if u wanna skip the comparison and just go straight to the 19mm's af capability on the 5n)

while the image quality is a notch above the 16mm pancake lense in terms of sharpness and colour, i guess i have to give both a pass and wait for a new pancake by sony =(

My advice is dont buy the 30mm just because its cheap and sharp. If you do not own any nex lens or only own the 16mm pancake, then i will say, buy it.
but if you own the SEL18-55 kit zoom, the benefits is only slighly smaller size, 1stop advantage, and sharper at the corners, and the "bokeh" at F2.8.
So, if you own nex5n, you 1stop advantage is quite negligible. in most situations, you will not really notice the "sharper" images. you will likely at most see the sharpness once, when you download to your pc and pixel peep. and dont forget kit zoom lens has oss and focus better for video. and also no need to change lens so often.

So, if you really want it, then buy it. if can wait, wait for it. but dont buy due to the BBBvirus. the kit zoom lens is good. FYI, the 30mm lens that i sold off in B&S is already on the market at a higher price that i sold.:) So, you might start asking, is this lens really that good?

thanks for the advise =) ...i only have the 18-55 and 16mm pancake..guess i'll just stick with the kit zoom and pancake for casual shooting..i still find the 18-55 abit conspicuous....just need something abit smaller for street photography..if the 30mm havent had the jittery issue during af for video would have bought it straight away...im just too lazy to have to do manual focusing during videos =p...thats just me

i believe people bought the lense for shooting stills anyway and most wont find manual focusing during vids a chore...

anyone compared this lens with SAL35F18? thanks

Seems like this lens cant take video, i mean video is not clear with full of lines....not sure is lens issue or camera issue..
