Went to DDE to get this today... but they didn't have stock :(

Only had one piece, which was reserved by a customer.

For dd best is order online first. Sometime can take a few days to arrive...and pls check the af before paying.

Yeap. Please do a very thorough check on the Af as this is most of the problem with this lens. other than that its a very good lens. In terms of many ppl getting blur images, i do too. I read somewhere that its actually how you take pictures. Most of us will usually AutoFocus>half hold> then Frame picture>then SNAP. And because of the 1.4 bokeh, even the slightest move from the subject will create blurness. Thus when using f1.4 its better to frame, use the manual focus point to aim on the subject and Snap. Thats what iread.

Yup, good tip. I didn't order because I was hoping to try a few copies to see if there were any focusing issues. With this model, its not likely that a buyer might get the chance. Though in some earlier posts here, there were buyer who managed to do that.

if buy from DDE no local warranty. so if u go calibrate locally have to pay extra. happened many times on many buyers

You can still order first. For payment select shop pick up. You only pay after you tested and accepted the lens. If the copy you are trying have focusing issues, you can ask for another copy to test. If not acceptable and no more copies left, you can cancel the order on the spot.

And seriously, not many (if any) stores will allow you to test multiple copies then let you pick the best. You test one, if ok, buy. If not ok, return that piece and try the next piece... you cannot ask for multiple pieces and try all before deciding which one you want.

+1. Focus then recompose for a lens as wide as F1.4 will give you a lot of issues. Even if you focus on something in the center of the frame, and you just move very very slightly, the focus will be off. Sometimes you might want to use AF-C and manually select the AF point to use.

Anyone encounter problem such as iq, af and etc on this lens?

Yes. But most ppl recomnended Canon 35mm F1.4 USM

Compare with Iq.

If you want iq of course go for canon,if you want cheap than sigma

You always pay for what you get. Sigma is cheaper among all, thus some of the problems that all have been discussed here. But still its a good lens, sharp, and if ur into the bokeh feel. 30mm on crop camera gives you 48mm view on 35mm camera. closed to 50mm that is consider the most commonly use for any occasions. 50mm = 1 eye view. So for that price, if you get a good copy, it does worth it. i would have compare canon 28mm f.18 instead, but yea, with around the same price, this 2 is the much matchable.

This lens is cheap and "good" enough for crop camera.
Only thing is that the color balance more towards yellow. U should consider ef 28mm f1.8 usm if u have a canon body.

Any body got a comparison photo? Man i was thinking to trade my sigma for the 28mm canon. But dont feel like giving up the 1.4. :(

Another one you can consider is the 24/1.8 or 28/1.8 from Sigma.

24mm F1.8 on D300s. SOOC jpeg. On Crop... it gives you close to a 35mm FOV.

Still got sigma 20mm f1.8.
Then become 30mm for crop.
Loud and slow focusing ..

My new one, looks vastly different from a previous one that i bought in 2008/09 Olympus mount. This one is Pentax K mount...

Last time the old one the photos very yellowish tint... this one no... much improved... & though this Pentax mount doesn't have HSM focusing motor, my camera body driven focus is just nearly as fast, abeit slight more noisy...

Mine is a different type of coating and its peeling real bad :(
