Why are everyone so worried about calibration issues? Seriously, it doesn't affect ALL the lenses..I think there are more post in this thread talking about calibration than talking about how good this lens really is. There's the odd few that needs calibration for some reason but most of the time they're all good sets. Besides you can test until you happy before you buy..

Can someone share some pictures in low light with this lens with no PP before i make the jump lol. Appreciated.

Nope, i only have my D7000 with 16-85! Hmm i guess you just have to camp at the shop to test till the lens suits your camera body i guess. ):
But actually if i'm right, grey set is under Sigma 1 year international warranty. Then for Sigma Singapore, the repair cost cover equipment but not service cost. So in fact the calibration is only 80 bucks i think.

Ohh. I've heard of camping at the shop to test until everything is 'passed' then purchasing it. But then I don't dare to stay there to test the lens for so long cos it feels like I'm imposing on them.. Haha man, there's still some things unclear about Sigma's grey sets but I have no time to find out fully yet.. Think I'll just get the local set and then slowly find out more about Sigma's stand about grey sets then maybe the next Sigma lens I get might be a grey set. Hehe :)

My 1st outing with the lens. Extremely low light as pics was taken at brewerkz.

Taken in a shopping ctr at a fairly low light situation.

No PP done, except resizing.

You will need to place your order online but you will call up for collect and payment is by cash. Last week when I got mine, it was the last piece in their recent shipment. After order placement, it will take about 4 working days. It is FOC to test the lens in the store, take as much time as you like. The sales guy is quite funny and will probably chat with you when he is free...

Haha. Maybe because its the one that would actually make people dig into their pockets deeper.. Since there is a risk, and we may not be able to fully test out the lens at the shop, why not make sure everything is covered nicely. Better then last minute need to pay for servicing/calibration/etc. Hehe

Hi, is it true that the 'older' version of this lens has a EX logo sticker whereas the newer version (coating) lens has the EX logo embossed as part of the body of the lens? :)

Order have to be placed ONLINE, so you need to create ID and password which I find it quite troublesome...but the benefit is the tracking service for your order. Even if you call, they will ask you to place order online. I tried that...

Just call the shop ask if got stock then go see the lens. Buy only if lens is sharp on your camera. No need online purchase.

Wow so troublesome! Guess i've decided to get from DDE already! Thanks for your inputs. :P

DDD selling at $500 payment by cash? How abt credit? Heard need to pay 2% extra?

YAY! Just got my lens today! But...... I did some test shots at home and realized that it doesn't focus well every single time. In fact, only about 50-60% of the time it is focused properly :s
Might have gotten a sour one even though i checked the lens for like 20mins in the store.. Damn i suck at this.. :(
Guess i still gotta send it down for calibration.. :s

Btw, when i was testing out the lens at SLRR, one of the staff actually came up to me and said to me: "Actually, all the Sigma lenses will not be properly focused. And well the warranty covers the calibration costs. So why not just use the warranty to go calibrate it. Seriously, its almost impossible to get a really sharp copy." Does that mean that i took too long to test out the lens? Were they telling me to just grab-and-go? :s

Congrats! Hmm Focus properly as in? Back focus / front focus uh? You could use the focus chart to test and let the other CS member see if there's problem with the focus. If you take a look in the previous few pages, got people send few hours at the shop, so 20mins ain't that long. It's fine!
Hmm isn't it better to get a sharp copy so that you wouldn't have to waste the warranty since max you can calibrate is twice. You could save it for instances like when you decided to upgrade your camera body!
