Sigma 30mm f/1.4 User Group

Hi guys,

I thought I'll ask this question here since all of you (or rather most) are sigma 30mm f1.4 users! How much would this lens with a canon mount cost roughly? Not sure how much the mount would cost?

Does this lens function well with the smaller apertures? I know it works great with the wider aperture compared the canon's 28mm. Honestly, am thinking about both but after reading up and looking at this thread, the 30mm seem to be appealing to me.

Am thinking of getting one next week and would love to get an estimate of the price I got to pay. Hoping to here from you all soon! ;)

The lens cost around $700+ on average in Sg. In HK it's around 30% cheaper

Does DD electronic sell this? And is it at a cheaper price? I dont see it on their web

I emailed DDE to ask before, they don't stock this lens.

DDE said this lens has disproportionately high warranty issues. So they do not carry them.

Hi, intending to get a friend to buy for me from HK TC. Just in case i get a F/B focus lens, and dun wanna spend the $150 at Sigma SC, is it possible to do calibration outside like Camera Hospital?

Last I heard the calibration cost $80. Has the cost increased?

Yeah. It's 150. Just calibrated my lenses last week. But I bought locally so it's free. If not, 300 as I got both 30 and 50.

So if getting 2nd hand lens, really have to test that there is no front/back focusing issues.
If not, may not be worth to spend additional time & $150 for calibration.

For 2nd hand lenses, make sure they give you warranty card with local company stamp. Then calibration will be free. If not, have to pay 150.

Got my lens last week, although it is good copy but i think i want to go to zoom

hi commonjunks, mind sharing why a zoom instead of a fast prime?shooting style or 30mm not wide enough? Am contemplating a new wide prime here, also on a 7d.

Hey man, i shoot at home and HDB setting don't give me enough space to capture more than 3 ppl in a picture (at least in living room setting). I don't want to buy multiple lens so i find zoom lens would be best for my need. Although this lens is sharp wide open.

hi guys just wondering when calibrating must you "surrender" yr camera body together with the len and roughly how long must you leave it there???

Yes you need to. Its calibrated to the specific body. Depends. I calibrated the thing twice. First time took 4hrs. Not satisfied as was worse than initial. Second time took about 3 days. Much much better. Still moody once a while but mostly behaved itself. ;)
