Sigma 30mm f/1.4 User Group

i also have this lens. just bought this lens in Dec 08. it truly gives u a nice bokeh. however i have one issue, which is overexposed images. everytime i want to shoot in daytime, i need to adjust to -0.7EV on my D40.

anyone having the same problem? will it solve the problem by bringing it down to sigma service center for calibration?

i have the same problem with my s5 pro but no problem with my ex D40.. Funny thing is for other lens i need to set +0.3 for my s5 pro and sigma 30mm i need a -0.7... may be too much light enter the lens..

d40 is well-known to overexpose shots if you focus in shadow areas with the AF point, so even with my kit lens on, the default value i use in the exposure for my d40 is always between -0.3 and -0.7

rough guess... could it be because of metering mode?

nevertheless, to calibrate the lens, you need to call and book a slot before you can head down to Sigma Service Center. You will need to leave ur lens and cam to them because they will calibrate the lens to match to ur cam.

Wanna know how to test the 'sharpness' of this lens ? And how would consider the sharpness is acceptable for the expectation of this lens as the QC is not consistence ? And there is focusing problem to check ?
