Woah...this lens is pretty good huh? It's about SG$560.00 from B&H. Will be able to save even more if getting more lens from them due to shipping. It costs about US$60+ to ship it alone as opposed to, say, getting 3 lenses for US$87 on shipping. Good time to get stuff from there actually now that US$ is down.

hey sorry ah but what and where is B and H?? is that as cheap as it gets?

If get a friend (non photography knowledge) to buy overseas any issue ? warranty international ? If need to calibrate how?
Thanks

Don't forget that combining package more than $400 SGD will incur GST.. so take that into consideration..

i've joined the 30/1.4 club!!! LOVE IT!!:))))

can't believe was actually considering the nikkor 28/1.4 at 4k ahhahah

Here's my test shot.

Any problem with the QC of my lens?

Hi aperture at F1.4, shutter 1/30

cant really tell from this photo as too many stuffed toys messing around wif your main focus. Why not try removing the rest of the background toys and place them much further away and just isolate your imitation mickey on a chair without a backrest for better bokeh effect?

Looks sharp to me as long as the focus is on minnie.

What has arrangement, bokeh (and it's minnnie btw) in the picture got to do with TS's question on QC :dunno:

Anyone tried the 30mm f1.4 with kenko 2x tc?? it seen to hunt for focusing for very long..

i also have this lens. just bought this lens in Dec 08. it truly gives u a nice bokeh. however i have one issue, which is overexposed images. everytime i want to shoot in daytime, i need to adjust to -0.7EV on my D40.

anyone having the same problem? will it solve the problem by bringing it down to sigma service center for calibration?

depends i guess...

1. what F stop are you using during daytime?
2. are you using full manual? what's your shutter speed? what ISO are you using?

Does anyone have any comments/comparisions about this lens against the Nikkor 35mm f2/D?

Besides the fact that this lens is 1 stop wider, 5mm difference in focal length and hence the slightly wider view, does it really justify the extra $100+ to get this lens which is 3rd party?

I've read the entire thread and everyone is just comparing this with the 50mm f1.4 or f1.8. Would like to know how it compares with the 35mm f2D instead.

I give up this lens for Nikon 35/2...
I'm not a technical person, so what I can say is I prefer the tone produced by 35/2 than this lens.

Hi, there are a lot of images here (35 vs 30)

Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the link!

I'll most likely be getting the Nikkor as I'd be able to use it on my FM10. Also for the lower closer minimum focusing distance, the tone and partly also because it's a Nikon.

Not intending to disparage the Sigma 30/f1.4 or anything. It still looks like a great lens to have. Wish Nikon had a faster version of the 35mm f2, really.
