here are some of my contributions, nothing very fantastic so far, still learning :D

Hi All, Just got mine a few days ago. However, I am having problem getting a sharp photo with my D300 for any aperture below f/4 when view at 100%. It is especially bad at f/1.4. Tried and test the focusing. It is OK. Anyone know the reason why? I will try to post some photo later... Thanks.

Sigma QC is known to be erratic... yours may be one of those that the QC wasn't good...

Isaiah>> I bought it for SGD$540 in HK with intl wty.

King King>> Pls post some pics so we can see what the problem is!

This is taken at F/1.4...

u've got a lemon.

ideally u shud get it to change at the shop or send to Sigma for servicing.

not surprising to get a lemon, it's Sigma afterall.

intosite>> whoa! i like your 2nd pic! :D

Hi All, Just got back from Sigma Service Centre. My Sigma 30mm F/1.4 had a bad front focusing problem... After an hour of calibration, they managed to fixed my problem. I will try to post some pictures later!:)

Yes, It was so much front focus that it was even out of my test range when I did the focusing test. Nothing else was wrong with the lens. I did some test shot last night and it looks good. I especially like the Bokeh when shooting wide open at F/1.4. I have a trip coming up and intend to bring the Sigma along. I will try to post some pictures soon...;)

Hi All

Just got my my 30/1.4 today..... Can't wait to try it out......

DSLR Newbie here. Question... What determines how wide to open the aperture when using AV priority? Understand that 1.4 gives the best bokeh....

Thanks

This is gonna be a real quick crash-course reply :D

Basically, larger aperatures (Lower f. Number) gives you best bokeh and allows more light to enter, thus, allowing faster shutter speed. Smaller aperatures (Large f. Number) gives a sharper background but will decrease exposure, thus, longer shutter speed required.

hohoho just got my copy yesterday! very satisfied with it so far... =P here're a few shots taken wide open @ 1.4

wanna ask if theres any postprocessing done to your pics besides resizing?

Has anyone bought a grey set and has focusing issues?

Does the shop calibrate the lens for you?
