Hi,
I am bringing my lens for calibration tomorrow. Thought to show/share my experience on this lens.
focus is at right nose hole of momo, at least with my lens it start giving sharp image from f/2.2.
All images are handheld (unfortunately my tripod head can only mount camera with lens collar, wimberley head), no i didn't tried manual focus. Maybe later today i will try Manual focus. You mounted on tripod? Have tried Manual focus?
WOW nice shot... mind sharing the setting u use and the white balance? thx

Does it mean 1.4 can only be achieved with help of tripod?

Currently bought a Canon 500D, and want to get a prime lens, so wondering is these lens for portrait/landscape? Or 50mm f/1.4? Thanks.
You may try to take photos using your kit lens, set at 30 mm focal length. See if you like the field of view. then try 50 mm. See what can you achieve, what is your limit.
To me, 50 mm a little tight on 1.6 crop. For outdoor portrait I'm fine with it, for indoor I feel tight.
