Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Users

tnx kikiaw and the others about this info. will be getting one now at OP @ 950. gst included.

as far as i remember i read a review that this and tamron 18-270 is better than the canon 18-200 from my understanding

and this Sigma lens zooms the way like a Canon lens does :p

Well, even if zooms like Canon, at least with a lower price and further distance covered, it is still a good buy.

Dear all bro,

i am basically stuck with this lens and in comparison with canon 18-200mm...

was flipping throught the pics taken using sigma,

any user here owns both lens before and willing to share your views from both?

I would said this Canon 18-200 IQ is only so so, cos my friend own one... zoom range is shorter plus expansive.

Welcome! :)

Thanks bro..

now is when to buy it..haha..think give me a few more weeks...need this before my holidays come

i already got my 18-250, really works great

but i had an issue with orient photo wherein i asked the guy that i noticed the manual w/c is included is for a 18-200 and said it is only for the instructions so i didnt mind. i didnt notice that the warranty card issued was for a 18-200 OS when i got home.

i sent them an email to them and said to contact Sigma Singapore but they are the once they did the sales. will i have issue with warranty on this? i already sent my case to sigma singapre via their contact email, will update you guys in case you encounter the same issue.

It must be they mixed up the warranty card n manual with the 18-200 unit when costumer tried out both lenses. You can chk the serial no. on your lens n the warranty card izzit the same serial no.

it is different serial #'s, OP advised me to contact the sigma singapore directly. i hope i get an answer today

OP shld be the one responsible not Sigma (s)... you paying for what it suppose to be original, they have to replace another set for you instead of asking you to settle with Sigma (s).. If me, I will insist for a change.

Since u bought it so new, OP should be responsible enough to do the exchange for u since it's their mistake.

IS OP difficult to approach?
i know some retailers reject returns once sold...thatz why i prefer to buy from friendly and reputable ones..but OP shld be okay rite?

update regarding my warranty card issue, i got a new warranty card from sigma with correct details via post. i just emailed them my invoice and the warranty cards and it all okay now. OP has good service, we both didnt notice it so cant blame them totally. got carried away with excitement. lol!

regarding my experience with lens, for me it shoots good even in low light but some of the pictures exhibit flare. is this normal? im using a tokina uv filter, is that a good one?

bought this lens few days ago, found something strange not sure if it's normal or not...... every time after the camera idle for about 1 minute u can hear something moving inside the lens for a second, is it normal?

Glad tat u got ur warranty card back. :)

Abt ur lens flare, this happen when you're shooting on direct lighting or sunlight... Maybe you need to choose another angle or you can minimize it by removing your UV filter, since the extra glass will produce extra flare. Oh... make full use of your lens hood, it help too. :)

For me, the main purpose of an UV filter is to protect my front glass from scratches not so much of blocking out ultra violet light rays. For unwanted flare or reflections, u can try this "Circular polarized filter" and it also help to bring out the vibrancy of colors in shots.

I think It's normal, I have it too... a soft 'de' sound, maybe is the OS HSM cut off it's power when idle :bsmilie:

ok. tnx for that kikiaw.

is it advisable to have the cpl filter replace the uv filter to avoid flare and protect the lens? btw, i was shooting with lamp post at night on the scene when the flare occurred.
