Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Users

seems so far most reviews are towards the favour of Sigma....

wow... NT 17300 is SGD763 only .. can buy 1 for me ah if u are coming back soon?

I'm going back on Tuesday. NT$17300 is for cash deal only, credit card will charge another 3% tax. :)

Anyway, I've tested both the Tamron 18-270 & Sigma 18-250. My choice go to Sigma because of:

1) Tamron is more noisy when AF;
2) The image in viewfinder will tend to shake a bit when focusing due to the VR, but u don't feel any using Sigma;
3) When extending the range to max, u can feel smooth movement in barrel from Sigma although is tight, but Tamron will jerk a bit when moving;
4) For optic and image quality, both are almost identical;
5) Tamron is selling at NT$21800 and Sigma NT$17300.

Try it yourself cos everyone's preference is different, and i've chose to buy Sigma.:)

Im surprised by the price tat they're selling there... that almost $180 of saving compared to local price tag at $940 which is wat I paid for.
Nice saving! :thumbsup:

hi, how is this sigma working with flash TTL-II ?
Any issue ?

Anyone know what are the custom import taxes like when order from overseas? see some are able to sell with Fedex into Spore for ard SGD780 also.. with official warranty from US meaning valid here also since sigma lens is international

I've use the lense with my 430EX and so far no issue. The flash can still function well.:)

To answer some bros who pm me:

For Canon & Nikon (major big brand), the price in Taipei is same if not more ex than S'pore;
for 3rd party lens, the price in Taipei is much cheaper.

If want lens or accessories for major big brand, it's much better to get in Hong Kong (i believe).:)

any0one planning to get this lens from taiwan or hongkong?
with international warranty, i don mind buying from there. anyone know how to buy from abroad, maybe can share the shipment fee

I also thinking same but defnitely u need to pay import tax (ard 7%?) if combined orders.. actually order alone also probably will get tax as its more then SGD400

ebay got a seller with high rating offering this lens for ard SGD770 ($825 if got slap with GST) ... from NY... has USA warranty meaning to say not gray import , mean Spore Sigma will recognize it..

Which one are u referring to? Those indoor one i have to pump up the iso to the highest with aperture capped at f6.3, else difficult to shoot.

The pics are not cropped but scaled down to within 400kb requirement. But for an all round lense with that type of quality, i'm quite satisfied.:)

......

and this Sigma lens zooms the way like a Canon lens does :p

to me, i felt it look like a kit lens but slightly better, but what more do you want to ask from a all in one travel lens..if u r seriously talking about image sharpness and comparing to a L lens or even tammy 17-50, then of cos it will not be tat sharp

tc811, thks for sharing your pics here. Vry nice! :)
