Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Users

i shipping using borderlinx

Free delivery to the US address

plus S$91 from US to sing including a $56 gst charge ( and 10% delivery discount)

Mine was slightly heavier as the amazon threw in a free digital photo frame which made the package a bit heavier

total cost S$840 with delivery ..... but this may be a false economy if i have to pay a big repair bill

I know this is too late: but the Bordelinx's charges you've stated below are really high. If you'd ordered from BH Photovideo, they would have shipped it to you using UPS Worldwide saver (i.e. 3-4 days delivery?) S$64.

Does that include GST???

The GST alone is at least S$54

So the shipping cost is only S$12 .... i cant believe its that cheap

No - the $64 doesn't include GST.

OIC - did you mean that the $91 you paid already included the GST charge as well? If so then ok your shipping was cheaper - my bad.

Hi guys

I am currently Canon 1000D owner do u guy think is this camera can match sigma 18-250 DC OS lens? What I mean do u guys think this a mismatch? The lens is too much for a 1000D to handle?

sorry for the confusion..i meant it on a 35mm equivalent focal length..
Nikon 18-200 gives 27-300mm on my D90 (because of 1.5x factor rite?)
so Tamron 18-270 means 27-405mm on a Nikon DX body..
that's why i meant it's 105mm more than Nikon at the telephoto end.. :)
(by the way, the Canon 18-200 IS will give you 28.8-320mm on a 500D because of 1.6x crop factor of Canon APS-C cameras)
in that case, we can say the Tamron's tele reach is 112mm more than Canon lens..
kikiaw, sorry for a little OT here..thanks :)

my fr explained this issue to me before
but i just couldnt understand, haha...

Tamron zooms-in/out in the direction of Nikon, and Sigma in the direction of Canon..
it may sound weird but i find myself not favourable in the Canon way of turning the zoom ring.. which was one of the major reasons i gave up using Canon and stick to Nikon..
since you are using Canon cameras, and while other zoom lenses are turning the "right" direction for you, Sigma may be the option..
i haven't got a chance yet to try out the Sigma but according to reviews, image quality is more or less same..
Sigma got HSM though i don't know it may be faster in focussing compared to Tamron..
check this anyway for comparison with Canon/Nikon 18-200 counterparts..
http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/tamron_18-270_3p5-6p3_vc_n15/
buying 3rd party products sometimes may face drawback in "resale value"..in case you want to sell them back..
but i have no idea still to sell out my Tamron 18-270 ..it is slower in lowlight than Nikon but 105mm more on the tele end means a lot for me :)

just saw your msg ;p
so i am nikon user, should get tamron :embrass:

um.... well, now i am thinking, since this two lenses are having very good feedbacks
i guess no matter which one u buy, u get what you pay and you definately happy with it...
so both lens work fine with d80 too?
sorry, i am not pro about compatible stuff between cam and lens

now my turn to think again which one to go...

i have just gotten the sigma 18-250mm yesterday after trying out canon one and sigma one...and i can say this lens is pretty good ... IQ is acceptable...

Anyone bought the 18-250 overseas recently? Heading to Taipei tomorrow, am thinking of getting it from 台北市汉口街一段73号, ING映象专业摄影器材.

Price quoted for cc payment is NTD18,500, which converts to ~SGD807, which is slightly cheaper than what I have been quoted in SG shops so far.

Please let me know if there are better offers out there :)

I'm having problem with this lens lately. It seems the zoom barrel keep dropping by itself when I got it mounted and take it walk about. I had to resort to use the lock all the time. Anyone having the same problem as me?? Anyone can help??

Nice shots!

I have taken some shots using this lens in the zoo..

Its normal bro, no worries at all. Lenses that come with a zoom lock means it will creeps, to prevent the lens from creeping mostly when pointing downward... just lock it like everyone do. :)

That's weird. My copy of the lens is about 5 months old now and I've used it a lot - but the zoom barrel for mine still feels semi-stiff, and won't gravitate towards earth on its own.

I just had the lens for a day. First-hand test looks impressive for a zoom lens.

Was contemplating on Canon 18-200mm or Sigma 18-250mm, tried and tested the shots.
Well i'm not a professional so i won't look for something too expensive.
Canon was definitely out of my league, even in Tin Cheung, it cost around $900+, which was slightly cheaper than Singapore.
If anyone is going to HONGKONG, it'll be recommended to buy it there as my Sigma cost around $682, i was sceptical about the huge difference in amount but when bought it, works so great!
Very good travelling lens.
By the way, i'm a 500D user! :)
