I got the Sigma 12-24 from MS color for $1150 with 3 yrs warrantry after selling off the sigma 10-20. With my 5DMKii.. it's really wide and the distortion is very well controlled! I dun care about the 4.5-5.6 cause with the MkII I can easily bump the ISO up to 3200-6400 with little worries about noise.. those going FF can consider this lens!

Careful not to shoot your own feet in portrait mode! :bsmilie::bsmilie::sweatsm:

"Despite what some others have written, I find the Sigma a little more temperamental about filter thickness than my Nikkor 12-24mm. I've moved to thin filters with it, but you should note that the Singh-Ray Vari-ND filter--even the thin version--will vignette at 10mm on this lens." coded by Thom.

Thank!!

Interested in getting a Tokina 11-16mm in the near future... working on a dx body. Seems like a brilliant wide angle lens :)

Anyone knows the current price for it (tried searching in the forums but couldn't find)? Thanks! Feel free to PM me if you are not comfortable with sharing the source and price :)

I got the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for 890.
CP is selling the Tokina 12-24mm f4 now for 788 with freegifts - Lowe Bag, Monopod and lenspen.
But I chose the 11-16 for the slightly wider angle and bigger aperture.
Used it for a day and must say it is pretty amazing esp with low light. Very happy with it. Highly recommend.

Tokina 11-16mm no editing - first day using.
Taken at 11mm, f3.5, 1/15sec, ISO800

I used the Tokinda 11-16mm on my holiday trip in Europe...in my own perspective, i'm satisfied with its performance esp for the low light n small ally ways or landscape.

Yeah man, the 11-16 Tok is a lovely lens to have....

Got this back in Aug and it's been a stable lens I carry around. Great for buildings and landscape ! The f/2.8 works wonders in low light and IQ's great !

I doubt you'll have 'many' copies to try as its quite a specialized lens. Not something that is sold every other day. I had to order mine when I bought it last year from MS.

I would suggest trying out thoroughly before accepting the copy. Best is to bring down a laptop to view the images close-up. I had some problems with mine and was only partially resolved after 2 trips to Sigma service center. But glad to report that the service had been excellent to date.

Its really an Ultra Wide if you try it on a FF. Nothing comes close and you can indeed get some very unique perspective distortion shots which are not possible with anything else.
And yes, its distortion (barrel and pincushion) control is excellent too!

The Tokina 11-16 is the newest, but why does it matter/why should it matter?

F2.8, sharpness even when wide open, fully compatible with full frame from 15.5mm and longer, 15mm if there's no filter.

only issue is the zoom range. but like yourself, i dun see a need for duplicate focal lengths since my next zoom starts from 17mm.

i'd like a sigma 14mm f2.8 prime (FF compatible) but some online research puts this lens at 80% more than the tokina. so the tokina it is

Thks for your info..... Hmmm i am no expert in selecting good copy

i just got my tokina 11-16mm, i seen the comparision b4 with sigma 10-20mm, tokina is sharper than it, distorition is still fine to me, the most important are F2.8 and the price isnt that expensive, i got it at $950 incld gst, ar Ritz, chinatown pagoda street...

Seems like it's almost impossible to get the Sigma 12-24 at this point of time actually.
Everywhere does not seems to have a copy at all.
Only place i saw this lens is at Orient Photo and i did a test but result is not really satisfying. Furthermore, there is no other copy to make a comparison thus i dropped the idea of getting that lens.
Sadly, this is the only UWA for FF camera made available.

As for cropped body, the new Tokina 11-16 got good review and worth taking a look.
