Sigma 100-300/4 or Pentax 60-250/4

Which would you buy?

Depending on whether you use the short or long end mostly. If you using the long end mostly than every mm counts, 300mm will not even be enough and adding a 1.4 TC to the Sigma give you a longer reach of 450mm (630mm for APS) at constant F5.6. There is the Bigma but it is slow, so if you shooting motion it will not be good enough. If you shoot on the short end mostly but having a reach of 250mm for occasional use, getting the Pentax is the most ideal.

Is there a reason whay I cannot vote?

For those who own both FA*80-200mm f2.8 and thinking about DA*60-250 ... if you can only own obe which do your prefer?

optical colour renderation and resolution which is better?

I wish Pentax had something like DA*70-280 F2.8

hahaha I don't have any pentax lenses yet =P All 3rd party.

some of yours shots are great! no Pentax lens !!! Wow if you own Pentax len you can do better.

Hi all, I just wonder where in Singapore I can purchase for a DA* 60-250 with a reasonable price? I'm from Vietnam where finding a true original Pentax lens seems to be impossible, however the grey market len (without serial no. on the lens) are easy to find with an acceptable price and quality as a luck. Therefore, considering of buy 60-250, I prefer to go to Sing to get it. Anyone can help me? Thanks with best regards.

I have both lenses, but I have not made up my mind as to which has better IQ, yet.

I would prefer to *use* the DA*60-250 because of the range, although I also like the motorised zooming function of the FA*80-200 f2.8.

I will hopefully get to do some test photos between the two soon and report back.

It is often said that there is "something about the image quality of the FA* lenses" and I am definitely one who agrees with that statement. I hope the DA*60-250 can match the FA*80-200.

the cat shots at buangkok right? he borrowed a FA77 for those.. self-poison:devil:

:bsmilie: ... Seems like he's not poisoned yet ... at least he already claimed that he doesn't have 1 yet.

He is stoic! no Pentax len but using Pentax body...

hi bro, his cat shots are awesome
don't make fun of a good photographer, or you will be condemned :dunno:

Me kenna condemned for making fun of a good photographer! Oooh did I said his pics are bad (This is so sad)??? where did you get the idea from bro?

If you kenna condemned, also not bad do you know you will win a price, they will ban you from participations in these thread, means they will train u to be as stoic as ishous, so I can become pentaxian but no pentax club participation is as good as pentaxian without pentax lens. meaning I can be on retreat breaks.

Don't you want to win this price, (solution for K7 resistant) or you already kenna virus, your order on the way so no point resisting, better surrender?

Don't know when will the DA*60-250/4 on sales. Waiting until I gonna crazy, and the K7 poison seem getting stronger.:(

Very hard to say. Obviously the 60-250/100-300 will be mounted for telephoto, but still useful to have a wider range as long as quality is maintained...

Pity the 100-300 isn't HSM.

I voted for the Sigma. From what I gather, it seems to be faster focusing. Besides, I don't trust the SDM on the DA*s..it doesn't add anything to the lens except one extra thing to break down.

Also, if you have the 50-135 or 55-300, then the extra 40 mm at the wide end has no real attraction; but a 300mm/4 combo would be very nice indeed. The 250-300 mm range is very useful for taking photos of aircraft.;p

As what I said in the past. Buying boths is not a problem. The problem is no money!:embrass:

I thought they already improved the SDM, that's why I bought my DA*16-50.
