actually I am wondering why the sigma not release the 50-150mm f2.8 instead of the 70-200mm f2.8?

surely the 50-150 is a better fit for the 4/3rds. with the 70-200mm you are carrying a lot of glass which you will never use since it is a full frame lens.

These lenses come out to fill a gap in the market.
We all know the oly glass is much better quality but then you have to pay for it.
The higher end oly lenses are not the kind of len most can just go buy. Most have to save and plan to buy over a period of time. Sigma fills a gap that gets you quality, though not oly glass quality, for a price that is a bit more affordable.

Well, we don't know for sure that the 8-16 will pop out this PMA. We just know that it's in the works. I doubt Sigma would try to squeeze a couple days of sales out of the wides market before Olympus tosses the 8-16 out. More likely Sigma spotted a gap in that the wides (sub-28mm equiv) for Olympus are currently rather expensive.

which 1 shd i go for? zd 8-16? or sigma 10-20? i just brought ZD 70-300mm, so forget abt 70-200mm

ZD8-16 is a SG lens, I dun think it will be too expensive

70-200 is constant f/2.8 :D

already got a dumbbell(35-100mm f2).. terrible lens for shooting long event(in-terms of weight).

Too little, too late...the 10-20mm should have been released a year ago, but now with the ~8-16 from Olympus on the horizon what's the point of the 10-20?

Er... price point loh... :bsmilie: maybe Sigma one will be cheap? Around $500? Quite affordable if it's around that price.

My main concern is that whether Sigma lens for FT is just a change of mounting to FT type rather than designed for FT... :dunno:

yah, they just change the mount & that's all... coz the 18-125mm is same price as other mount type...

around $500? i doubt so.. for such a wide angle..

I think see this 10-20mm for other brand's mount how much, this 4-3s one will also cost the same...

I do want this 10-20mm becoz i could never afford the Oly one at $1200+. Used one at $800+ i might still be able to save for... but recently i had that money, deciding between a used one that someone is selling for $800 or Nokia N82 for $800+, in the end i used the money to buy the Nokia h/p... ;p

I just saw the price : 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC - ($910 - TK)($730 - Lords)($735 OP)($870 - MS) from the Sigma lens thread under 'Others' (brand).

which 1 shd i go for? zd 8-16? or sigma 10-20?

Can't answer that until the ~8-16mm is actually announced, not to mention how it and the 10-20 will be like on FourThirds...personally I'd like to see images before making such a decision.

there is some nice pic in this forums, 10-20mm on nikon. not sure will it be a big diff with 4/3

the internal components should be more or less the same. the only different is the mount. sigma don't build a 4/3 lens from head to toe. they basically only convert the current models into a 4/3 mount.

ZD 11-22mm oli going for 1000+, shd we spend $800 for sigma 10-20mm?:dunno: diff is only 200
