Don't read too much into these rankings. At least half in this list overcharges. U pay more for a singapore smile or emirate smile though I prefer china airline smile. How is best defined? For me is always the time schedule, punctuality and loyalty rewards, which differs from person to person. Anything else are just superficial. Of course outstanding pilot flight experience is mandatory.

Nope. All the pretty SG gals were recruited already, then married rich Aussies/Brits they met on the flight (and usually took to the mile high club). Then they moved abroad. SQ is a powerful filter for exporting "talent" abroad.

IIRC the ex-SIA chairman said something like: I can tell if the SIA girl is Malaysian or Singaporean. The Malaysian provides better service, while the local is not able to cos she is used to being served at home by a maid.

Yeah, what's so good about SQ? Btw, that 'Singapore Girl' moniker is a thing of the past. How many Singaporean girls are there in SQ nowadays?
Lufthansa is not that good... And most international flights are code-shared on SQ, etc.
But after all my experiences with SQ, it does not deserve to be in 3rd. Maybe 8th.

Overall I still find SQ service better n more consistent than other airlines. But there is one thing that is damn super annoying about SQ, and that's the endless stream of PA announcements usually in two languages, especially half an hour before landing, the time when you are trying to finish that programme you are watching.
Emirates is worse...
Couldn't afford to fly on any of the top 10 airlines... so, who is 1st or the 10th, meant little to me... I fly budget most of the time anyway. As long as they fly and land on time... my baggage survive the trip ($$$$ scuba diving and photography gears)... and I live to travel another day.... price will be the main issue to me. :think:

Not even a lot in the old days.
Ya after budget airlines invaded Changi, travel mean either Airasia or Jetstar, now one more choice Scoot. Sometime the cab (with overnight charge) from Changi to my place is more expensive than my plane ticket
