They do that due to low-level wind shear. This wasn't taken at Kai Tuck was it? Final touchdown is done on one side to yaw the aircraft and align it with the runway.
edwinywh said:Wow!! So there is so many people who loves planes like me!!?? LOL....
I personally is a big big fan of airliners.net too!!
I like B747 most!! Especially UA!! =)
C'mon guys, lets share watever aircrafts pics u guys have.

porn-star said:Cross wind direction yes, but wind shear and micro-burst? Isn't that like hard to detect? Sorry, me no pilot so I dunno, just learn everything from flight simming and Discovery Channel.. From fly sim I played, landing at Kai Tak like that is because of the tight turn I had to make. Often I end up ditching into the sea. :bsmilie:
Anyhow, imagine if you were on that plane? @ 180 knots and 300 feet of the tarmac, it must've been a ball busting experience. LOL.
And yeah, according to the website, it was at Kai Tak Intl.
siron said:Yah can download it ...you want it I can pass ya the link..that is if you are flying the simulator!
Here another clip to show ya guys.... maybe you can see from here how accurate the Changi Airport is..Its a clip showing a SIA 747-400 I landed in at Changi.
744 landing in Changi
Remember check it out!![]()
edwinywh said:Well, from wat I read and see from some places... this kind of landing due to strong cross winds are very common in HK... But,scary sia... isn't it??
-__-"'
And also,I played FS2004 before..and landing one B747 is damn hard!!Due to its large wing...really is super cushion!!It jsut wun go down!!

Wai said:I saw the exact same thing when i was on the roof top near the old kai tak airport....that was 10 years ago.
I climb up the roof top to take pic of planes landing, there was a Qantus plane doing the same stunt, i tot the plane going to crash siah, there were lots of smoke when the wheels touch the ground.
The amazing thing is that the plane actually pull up again , make a U-turn and then landed safely on the second try.
I really hope i can capture that scene but guess what, my camera died for no reason at that instant
