didnt know closeup shots and bokeh coming from the kit is so nice!after two years (I think or more) am back and using Oly. This time EPL2 my 1st Oly was EPL1 and last was E620. I am still waiting for my adaptors to arrive so I am testing out the kit lens mk2 14-42.
I would say this lens is very usable comparing to other brand kit lens specially if you shoot raw you could fine tune the photos coming from this lens. I have below some sample shots and all was converted from RFAW to JPEG here's what i did to the RAw files
1. Correct the WB although most of the time OLY WB is spot on
2. Disable the Gradation... some how I dont seem to like the grdation effect to the photo... This seems to act similar to Dynamic Range in some other brand/body but even you put the photo to Vivid once the gradation kicks in specially if you put to auto it'll make the color wash out and you lost some finer details in the photo.
3. Disable NR even though I am shotting ISO200 I like turning this off as much as possible.
4. Distortion Correction
All photos settings are Vivid but still Oly produces natural colors which I like about Oly. Some photos i did apply art filter in PP.
PS. All these shots just shot anyhow w/o thinking of composition and artistic inclinationjust want to test the Kits lens performance. I would say this kit is good...

i like the 4/3 1442 ED and i don't think you'll disappointed with the 1442 either...I am still waiting for my adaptors to arrive so I am testing out the kit lens mk2 14-42.
Bro wonglp,
Very nice picture indeed. I'm so tempted to buy FE lens.
Sorry for OT. Which defish software did you use for pic #1 and 2?
Hi JoeJerry, thanks! No defishingBy leveling well, there's just some distortion.
wow.. no defish? is it difficult? OT abit, I'm going to travel really soon, which one should I get, this FE or 9-18mm? and where can I get this samyang? how much?
Manages to get a cheap Russian lens MC Zenitar-M2s 50/f2 I'll call this lens "Plastic Fantastic"
wonglp said:Not difficult, just ensure you are levelled horizontally and vertically. But still a UWA would be more proper especially taking buildings, imo. I had UWA as well in this trip but on different camera. FE more for the fun shots. Samyang available a few places, got mine from sgcamerastore.com I think artworkfoto also have? maybe some local sellers will have it too. Got it new at 450 2 months back.
cheap and pretty sharp bro!
Sushi party!!
