onebear, I think you forgot the shooting information on this one... you included them in your earlier posting. Nice shot by the way... must be freezing out there...

All shot on E-M5 + 12-60mm SWD (monochrome mode) - have to say that I am very impressed with the E-M5 in monochrome mode.

Nice contrasty monochrome, i'm impressed with 12-60! But the AF leave much to desire. Did you sharpen the pictures btw?

Thanks mate. Just wanted to go back to "feel" black and white and give it a little twist...

Jordan, Kowloon... right at the Junction of Portland Street.

The MF is where the fun really is... I didn't like CDAF, probably just spent too many years relying on PDAF...

There is something happening when you switch to monochrome mode (M). The images are naturally a lot sharper than when shooting in color. That is what that surprised me. The contrast is great, just a matter of tweaking the curves a little...

Oh ok.. I am going hk next week. Intend to bring only my EM5 with panny pancake 14mm f2.5 with me. Do you think i should bring other zooms or tele primes as well?

HK has one of the most interesting places to photograph.... Like Yau Ma Tei, Wan Chai, Mongkok, Jordan, Tsim Sha Tsui, and also the Stanley market at Aberdeen.

Yes.... I enjoy playing with the highlight/shadow curves a lot. Brings another dimension to how you can expose the frame.
But i usually shoot in vivid mode and PP to monochrome.

I use S-AF+MF mode at all times. Relying on AF to focus and then MF to make sure focus is on the right spot.

Best to bring a lens like the 12-50mm... there are times when you want to get close to your subject to take little details of things...

I should know HK... I am a permanent resident. LOL!

Haha! You should know better. Thanks for your suggestion. I think i'll bring the 12-50 too.
One place i would love to shoot is at tsing ma bridge park, to photograph ships coming in and out passing the bridge.
Lamma island too is a very good spot.
