My FA50 is gaffered like yours. Somehow the barrel is the width of the standard 1inch gaffer!

Yeah. That's a FA50/1.4. Nowadays I stopped gaffering the lenses and equipment already. They do get sticky after some times.

On the left is the 50 and on the right is the 35. U didn't change the rear lens cap for the 50? I had that cap as well (MIJ) and changed it to the screw type as found on the 35. That original cap is so loose its practically useless.

no, I didn't changed the original rear cap for both. but yeah, I agree that the plug-in rear lens cap is loose and quite useless...
