The price was just too attractive and I just lacked a f2.8 telephoto for indoor use. Looking at doing some YOG 'participation', so need to get prepared.

Eh, no F1.2? BUT I love your collection of the F1.4s-F2.8s.

I find the A series the most beautiful in Pentax's line-up. There is no ugly silver rim like that on the M series and the dof scale is printed directly on the exterior of the lens barrel (very unique).

OK a confession... the M lenses, the FA aren't mine. The A Macro also don't belong to me, or rather it once did. So that still means I got quite a few 50mm lenses still... Spending the next few days doing some field tests.

I will likely keep the A 50mm f/1.4 and put the A 50mm f/1.7 and f/2 up for sale later (only need one manual lens). I will keep both the FA Macro and the Sigma Macro because... um I love macro lenses. I use both for the occasional close-up work and they are just too sharp to sell. Actually thought of getting the A 50mm f/1.2 on eBay but thank God some more desperate guy overbid to get it and looking back, with the A 50mm f/1.4 going around S$250, the S$500-600 more for the 50mm f/1.2 just defy's logic. With that kind of money, the Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 is not only cheaper, but the slightly longer focal length can about replicate the f/1.2 in terms of bokeh and is a little better for portrait head shots. But that still makes it a premium of S$300 over the A f/1.4. So bottomline, imo if you want to keep a good affordable 50mm manual lens that's gotta be the A 50mm f/1.4.

I collect pentax body from Asahiflex to programA. other than this Asahi Pentax (original), i also own one Asahiflex IIa .
right now i have about 25+ and still looking for body that not yet in my collection.
