Recently I got myself the M9T, my first leica for collection...

Previously have all been using my autofocus cameras, I think I need some time to get use to this first leica... But I must say my workhorse 1d4 still seem to triumph in almost every aspect... But the looks won me over!

It is when you hyperfocus with a rangefinder that you realise the advantage of rangefinder. Hyperfocus beats autofocus.

steel grey, chrome, bp... i think you're just missing the black anodized and titanium...

nice m's!! with nice 35s and 50s to go with them.

... oh, and there was that pink "hello kitty" one too :bsmilie:

might you have meant zone focusing... :dunno:

Nice slope ... :)

Basically, the same thing, no? Except that zone focusing takes hyperfocusing a step further.

The hyperfocal distance for a given focal length and aperture always insures that infinity is acceptably sharp (infinity is included in the focus zone), but if you're shooting people on the street at say 2m - 5m distance, it doesn't really matter if infinity is acceptably sharp, and you'll get better results by setting the distance on the lens for the shooting distance. Especially so with older 1950s lenses where the actual DOF is usually less than the theoretical DOF, and hyperfocusing usually does not give good results. That's been my experience anyway... WMMV :)

they are both very useful techniques. i personally consider the hyperfocal technique to be a subset of zone focusing - it's just the extreme end of the spectrum at the hyperfocal distance with small aperture (large f value).

in any case, so as to not be OT-ing so much... i'm obligated to share a picture of a leica or 2, not that they they both belong to me...

twins...
