So the switch is done ?

Was thinking of this "steal dragon turn phoenix" :bsmilie:

Not yet. I think this is better than using the Contax adapter from amedeo, which is not that great as the helicoil is in the adapter itself, so it is flimsy. Of course, I will make the exception for the Nikkor Millennium :bsmilie:.

Jiri wanted more for the lens and I decided not to get it. So he put it on eBay. Considering the condition, I still went for the eBay bid, but it had no cap and had marks. Did not think it was worth the original quoted price, and I'm actually glad I did not win.

Oops. Sorry I misread your post earlier. I thought you were in the bid.

I have dealt with Jiri a few times and found him to be quite reliable. For rarer stuff, his prices won't be cheap. Two of my Type 7 Canon 100mm f/3.5 all cost above US$500 each. Most would pay between US$100 to US$200 for the black 100mm. The black Canon 28mm f/3.5 was offered for about US$950. Only less than 1800 pieces made.

Minty Japanese RF gear is really hard to come by. Complete with caps and hood will be even harder. Not everybody is as resourceful as Gommy!!:bsmilie:

Cheers,

Hmm.. I thought the amedeo adapter was given some nice good comment over at RFF.. looks like it evilbay time for a lens barrel :bsmilie:

Maybe should wait to see your LENkenstein..first :bsmilie:

There is some experimentation by Brian from RRF, so he is taking his time and I do not mind. Of course, my Tarcus f0.95 still stucked with DAG!

Yup let's see what Brian come what with..

Doing a quick calculation for the "switch".. this operation will properly cost like Gommy charges for doing a Crowning.. wait maybe I am wrong.. Gommy's charges should be LOTS more :bsmilie:

Gommy, I want the cap leh..... ha ha ha :bsmilie:

Anyone can offer some info or advice on this particular lens? Nippon Kogaku S.C. 8.5cm f1.5

I was previously advised to forget this as a shooting lens. Nippon Kogaku's reputation was built on the 8.5 cm f/2 rather than the f/1.5. Despite the speed, it's not known to be a stellar performer. The size and weight certainly didn't help with the handling either. I think it's relative rarity rather than it's optical quality keeps this lens on the list of collectors. Leitz's Summarex 8.5 cm f/1.5 and Canon's 85mm f/1.5 are also in the same league, meaning fast, big and heavy (but average).

Based on the above advice, I went to get the f/2 version of Nikkor's 8.5cm offering instead. It's actually a Sonnar design copy and indeed a solid performer.

Cheers,

A recent acquisition...one of the most compact RF lens....

Cheers,

What lens is this?

It's a Nikkor 28mm f/3.5 originally on the famed AF600. Converted to M mount by MS Optical. But like some of their other lenses, focusing works on M8, but not on R-D1. Shame....

Cheers,

I was offered a Holga lens converted by MS Optical...:bsmilie:. Serious...

Hacker reappears!!! (between feeding!) :bsmilie: I think with triplets, you don't even have a free hand to hold the camera for snapshots man!

Anyway, M.S. Optical have a lot of other conversions as well, even the Carl Zeiss Tessar 35mm f/2.8! For for fun only lah. I don't really take lenses from M.S. Optical too seriously. This one caught my eye as it was really compact, like a pancake lens! Even the Hector 28mm or Elmar 35mm might not be as small as this one.

Cheers,

I agree, what initially capture my attention is the size of the lens.:)

Yes, it's flatter than the Hector! Quite nice & focus perfectly on M8.
