Yes it's true. The Tanar 5cm f/1.5 is really very rare and hard to come by. And it performs well too. That's why it's so coveted. Probably more rare than the chrome Fujinon 5cm f/1.2.

As for Canon lenses, I didn't forsake it. Still picking up pieces here and there, mostly variants. Otherwise, it's bodies and accessories. Pretty much stagnating now as it's getting difficult to track down missing bits due to the lack of good information.

Cheers,

Since, I've recovered, here's more sharing of my Japanese RF gems:
Tanaka Kogaku Tanar lenses:

The Tanar 5cm f1.8 below has a Sonnar design. This is the second version with all black focusing barrel. The first has alternating black & chrome stripes on the focusing barrel.

Gommy,

I hope someday someone like yourself will write a guide on these - or have you already? :bsmilie: There are very few English books in the market on RF lenses, beyond the various out of print or soon to be out of print Leica lens guides.

My broken Hex family, looking for uncle 50/3.5, grandfather 50/1.9, brother 21-35/3.4-4, sister M35/2, son M50/2, grandmother 50/1.2

Hacker will help you reunite with your long lost brother :bsmilie:.

"Upshot. There are only three varifocal lenses for the Leica world. The 21-35mm Hexanon Dual is a better performer than the 28-35-50mm Tri-Elmar and a far more useful lens than the exhorbitant 16-21mm Tri-Elmar."

Wow, 2 "Panda": feet vs meter.;)

Just wondering... would the Nikkors have versions with the distance scale in meter instead of feet?

Im just mildly annoyed that I have to do that little bit of maths when I zone focus :P
