Should I hold my purchase of 17-55 f2.8 is usm till after Christmas

when is the right time & right price to get e-gadget?
questions i ask myself frequently when there's a new model or a need to replace current item or another sale or IT fair
there is never the best time to get, from experience (shared by many, i believe) prices tend to drop after some time
more important is to get the best value for our $ at time of purchase, best to get what we want & enjoy it
personally i tend to prefer to get something that's not too old a model, as in release date not to be more than 1-year old
new models are released so quickly and before we know it, we send something for maintenance or repair, they tell us it is old model, no spare parts etc
of course, i'm talking about e-gadgets in general, not exactly an expert in cameras

u mean they offer u $1215 before GST for CC 0% interest payment?
Even pay cash also the same price?

Sorry for the late reply.... just got back from work.
I email CP-P on the 23rd of Nov asking about their 0% interest Credit Card installment plan and saying that I'm looking for Canon 17-55mm f2.8. I then got an email on the 24th from CP answering my question..... with a 7 day only, offer of getting the 17-55mm f2.8 at $1215 without GST ($1300 final price). And no.... they didn't add any 'Hidden Cost' into the bill. CitiBank divide the $1300 into 12mth installment.... with 1st payment at $108.37, and the other 11mth at $108.33 per mth.... (total still $1300) Even the sales person was taken by surpise :bigeyes: He kept checking the email.... twice, and told me that the price offered was normally for CASH only. But in the end.... I still got it at the offered price.:thumbsup:

I purchased the lens on 7 Nov.
I initially wanted the lens because I had a look at the hood price in the forum and I felt that it was quite expensive at S$80+. So I asked for the lens price only and he quoted S$1250 cash.
Then I itchy-backside and asked about the hood and when he told me that it was S$49, I was surprised and bought it as well.
2 days later, I was in Thailand visiting my parents-in-law and was browsing the local camera shops and found the B&W 77mm UV filter at S$100! So then I bought that too!
Hope it answers everyone's questions!

i went CP-M last night and have to pay S$1260 (hard cash, NETS also cannot) and pay S$135 for B + W UV 77mm filter
the sales guy wanted to know who is the person selling at CP-P at S$1250, of course i got no idea...
since i am already at CP-M, then just pay, grab and go

He told me straight.
No such thing. That price is exclude GST. Cannot be include GST. Internet people anyhow say. I can't sell you lower that price. Sorry. Bye bye.

I didn't find anyone there, just called and check the pricing and then head down. Maybe it's because I bought a 70-200 F2.8L IS USM lens earlier in the month? Lucky? Don't know man.
no need to look for anyone, just tell them your friend came and was quoted this price earlier and bought already and they will let you buy at that price usually.
must look firm. coz each time i ask i also get different price from different ppl i ask. i asked at CP-M earlier in the day before i buy and was quoted 1300 nett, then went back in the evening and wanted to get le, was quoted 1400 then.
so i told the sales man i was quoted 1300 why so much difference now and he back down and i bought at 1300..
