Already bought a 18-135mm just now. Looking for the essentials - Dry Cabi, External flash, Tripod etc... Addictive!

Any improvements? Used the 18-135mm I just bought 4 hours ago...

Did you use CPL???

Quite inspired by this photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten. Amazing pictures she takes... Wow!

Ok... notice you in the top left side of the watch.... so you also should note and see if you can see yourself in the picture...

I presume you are not using flash right????

No flash. Will try again... Thanks!

I'm also thinking of replacing my 17-85mm with 17-55mm, but i would loose out in the tele range. Which means need to save up again for a better telezoom lens, meanwhile depend on my lousy 75-300mm non usm lens for telephoto shot

Why not just get the 17-55mm and use a prime like 50 f1.4 or 85 f1.8? Both are good primes!

I think 85mm is better as 50mm prime focal length is covered by the zoom already....

Cool!

I did this today but think I didn't do the watch justice. Abit of glare and probably not setting the right aperture? If u guys arranging a watch shoot, pls invite. I'll be glad to contribute!

hey bro!

if you wanna shoot watches, count me in! quite interested in the art of it too. :)

Cheers!

I been thru ur stage.

Coming from 450D to 50D to 5d
I knew I am going to go FF soon. I end up getting 24 105 which I used until now. Do u really need the 2.8? Ask yourself

i always shoot indoors so i definitely need the f2.8... thought once like you, get a 24-105L can already... ended up regretting and want to change to a 24-70L now... i need that f/2.8... but it would be better if 24-70L has IS on it...

I've just upgraded from 17-85 to the 17-55 f2.8.

It is fantastic. Definitely more contrasty than the kit lens.

The f2.8 has proved to be more useful than the kit lens of the variable aperture. You wouldn't lose out on the 85mm as you can either crop later or use a tele lens.

As for my case I just use my legs haha.

Choosing between the 17-55 and 15-85 was easy for me. That little bit more range doesn't help much. Many times I bring both my 17-55 and 70-200 along for a week-long trip and I hardly take out the 70-200 (except maybe to shoot a bird or something). The main reason I bring that extra weight along is: "since I paid so much for it, better bring it along to get my money's worth".

One more thing about the 17-55. Fixed aperture means you can shoot manual at f/2.8, f/4 etc, and it won't change when you zoom. For the 15-85, if you shoot manual, you have to be at f/5.6 to guarantee your aperture doesn't change during zooming.

The money spent on 17-55mm is worth every bit and more. The pictures are sharp and contrasty. If you can't buy prime L lenses in that range, this will do the job equally well. Personally this is going to be one lens I will always keep unless moving to FF.

I agree, since I bought 17-55mm this is my primary lense with no regrets at all. I can say the IQ is Superb!! No doubt if you have the budget.

Power lens. Pair with 70-200!!! Super pair!!!
