That is a dilemma. But too much add on accessories to the camera can be troublesome. At least for me since my idea is to replace my fallen PnS camera. I don't want to lug another "SLR" type of bulky system.
On the move, full gear SLR and another "SLR" system.... siong....![]()
i nearly upgraded from PnS cam to a LX3 but i wanted to have more control adding filter or change lens. Plus the noise on Lumix is rather disturbing for me. The E-PL1 is a great buy if you're not greedy like me(want this want that). the EVF is not a must but helps to see when the LCD fails in bright daylight condition, so i'm contemplating...
have you seen the micro 4/3 camera or not.
trust me, even with viewfinder, it will not be too big until reach dslr standards.
you will need a flash to make it reach dslr standards.
even then, i suspect the weight will be less.
yup night86mare is right, it'll never be as bulky and heavy like a standard DSLR

the only thing about m4/3 is the priccceeee. for that price actually can get a semi-good DSLR if you don't mind the bulk. likewise to desktop and laptops, the compact one cost more even though with lower specs ):
