[ Shopping ] - Price of E-PL1

That is a dilemma. But too much add on accessories to the camera can be troublesome. At least for me since my idea is to replace my fallen PnS camera. I don't want to lug another "SLR" type of bulky system.

On the move, full gear SLR and another "SLR" system.... siong....

i nearly upgraded from PnS cam to a LX3 but i wanted to have more control adding filter or change lens. Plus the noise on Lumix is rather disturbing for me. The E-PL1 is a great buy if you're not greedy like me(want this want that). the EVF is not a must but helps to see when the LCD fails in bright daylight condition, so i'm contemplating...

have you seen the micro 4/3 camera or not.

trust me, even with viewfinder, it will not be too big until reach dslr standards.

you will need a flash to make it reach dslr standards.

even then, i suspect the weight will be less.

yup night86mare is right, it'll never be as bulky and heavy like a standard DSLR ;)
the only thing about m4/3 is the priccceeee. for that price actually can get a semi-good DSLR if you don't mind the bulk. likewise to desktop and laptops, the compact one cost more even though with lower specs ):

it is the same price as slr revolution then.

Erm.. nope.. I went to SLR revolution and asked on the price, they quoted me about $20 lesser only. And it was before i went to HN. Maybe they have increased the price slightly?

That is highly probable but it is not so pocketable anymore which the accessories. The 20mm f1.7 looks ideal for ultra mobility. ;p

I did consider EP2 due to the built and higher configurations but the size and lack of flash made me hold my horses.

I guess things can be resolve with, at least Olympus integrate the same E-PL1 capable flash in the EP2.

Well... you win some, you lose some, you get a more compact camera than a DSLR,but not as compact as actual compacts, but your image quality is far better but at a higher price, nothing is perfect in this world, besides,if you have cargo pants or can fit into them, you can actually put it in, I can't fit into cargo pants so I have to carry it in a bag

I got mine at the airport Terminal 2 (Sprint-Cass). White dual lens kit $1260 + 8GB SD card + very nice dark brown Olympus bag that can fit two lenses, flash, etc. Not the cheapest around but the bag got me hooked! :)

I got the following e-quote. It seems a lot lesser than what others here are quoted. Should I be worried?

EPL-1 white with 14-42 kit @S$858.00
Free: 8 GB memory

EPL-1 white with 14-42 & 40-150 dual lens kit and MMF2 Four third adapter @S$1158.00
Free: 8 GB memory

Supplied with charger, rechargeable battery, strap, USB cable and software.

I guess the salesman must have mistaken E-P1 with E-PL1 instead. Because E-P1 promotion now comes with FL-14 flash.

Good buy for the early birds.

Cathay Photo

Wow, another good one. Since it's Cathay, no need to worry, I guess. This E-PL1 is probably treated by dealers as just another compact that doesn't need to hold the price, just clear as fast as possible.

For those who paid higher, like me, go shoot more outstanding photographs. The pictures will pay for the difference, and more . Not applicable of course to those who just use it once in a blue moon.
