Totally agreed, that's my final object too. A zoom for walkabout, a tele for street candid/ animals/ etc shoots, and a prime for product/ close-up/ portrait/ etc shoots, and hopefully a macro lens too. 50mm can also shoot landscape/ cityscape, all depends on what you wish to focus on. A fast prime is very useful for low light and indoor shoots.

If you wanna use 50mm for shooting street candid of people, I can guarantee you the shoots will not be very candid in the end, unless you super thick skin type :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Sigma 50mm prime is also highly rated, you can consider too. My personal choice will be Sigma's prime because the filter size is the same as my other lens @ 77mm. That means can share filters :thumbsup:

Must plan your 'investments' properly. Who knows one day you might end up with all 77mm filter size lens

well seriously chris.. get the lens tat u think suits the style of shooting you do.. some ppl prefer wide, some narrow for portraits, and some use tele for candids so tat they wont get caught.. in the end, it's all up to personal preference.. what we can do here is just to give u some info on what knowledge we have..

Again, think bout what u shoot the most and ur interests... tat will convince u on what lens to get..

I was just wondering.. Have you all ever went for an outdoor shoot in orchard? instead of nature, maybe 20 of us could surround some pretty "being" and shoot till the "being" call the police?
Just thought its more fun than the zoo.. animals so far away

well again.. it depends.... some zoom lens can cover what u want.. some cant. it depends on ur shooting style..if u want close ups.. then get tele.... cus u might be far from the cars..
