Hello cheryh79,
Just my thought/suggest this way:
(a) come together 7pm-8pm at Changi Airport MRT Station and discuss splitting into two groups. One group go to T3 for Structural while another to T1 for B&W. Also take this time for a light meal together n gett'g to know each other.
(b) Those old birds who knows something of Structural or Street photography and lead the T3 group, while those who knows something of B&W photography(especially those migrated from the film carema) can lead the T1 group.
(c) We start shooting at 8pm for an hour(?) then both group exchange location for another hour(?) of shooting.
(d) We come together again (10pm?) for night meal n photo view'g/shar'g.

PS: Some of u may want to bring your Monopod if u intent to shoot long exposure.

Lomographer, what do u think of this approach?

Cheers^^

Wha.. long list leh..

Wanted to join you guys.. but list abit long sia..

Ok heartofaperture, really good plan for this time round

But this is a temp solution

In order for this group to last, it has to be in smaller group...

Though I would really love to see 30 ppl with cameras in their hands walking around...

That's bound to scare ppl (;

Hehhehe... I want to join the party...hehehehe.....count me in. Thanks for the update.

hmm. this group is indeed very large.
maybe we can split into 2 different day??

actually you have a really good idea.. can we try this?
hmm.. i don mind 30 plus ppl meet up together and we split grps.. but can the lao jiao's suggest it is advisable to go in a large grp? any problem face in the past?
i hope this is really a sharing grp and not becoming money driven grp.. of cos if we progress on some might wanna setup some co also hard to say but hope we can stick to sharing objective.. just hope to get some friends that can go take photo on and off.. like that interest then can prolong mah..
any my apologies if i have mentioned anything wrong.. just my one cent of opinion..

Hi guys, sorry to kaypoh again.

Just thinking out loud ...
  1. The group's really too big! I'm not sure how you guys are going to break up into small groups but it'll definitely attract alot of attention, sometimes even unnecessary ones, i.e. the authority (?) To me, a group size of up to 8 seems the work well, at least for interaction between the shooters.
  2. This may seem of little importance but don't forget about the spoken language during the shoot - do note that not all can speak and understand mandarin; speak English! The non-chinese shooters will really appreciate that!
  3. Do consider having 'splinter-group shoots', i.e. some of us here can actually organise additional shoots at other venues, i.e. BG and other outdoor venues and times, i.e. early morning and late afternoons to explore other genres as mentioned in one of my earlier threads.
  4. The food! Make sure you know where to find them ... for me, that's my favourite segment of every shoot! Nothing beats human to human interactions over food! It'll also be easier to find seating for a smaller group as compared to large groups such as 30 or more (gasp!)
  5. Take the risk by organising shoots; you don't have to be an expert or a natural leader to do it! I can still remembering some of the earlier ones which I organised ... a total beginner, don't even know to use my camera competently, let alone my knowledge in photography but what an adventure!!
  6. Lastly, make sure you give everyone a chance to introduce yourself at the start. It'll be very sad if someone comes and join a shoot and later leaves without anyone knowing his/her name! It's networking time!
So have fun people and let the adventure begin! :cheergal:

Do also note that shooting in the airport within such a large group might be stopped by airport police or security personnel.

Since there so many ppl, why not have it in a park so all can participate together without having too much attention.. Just a suggestion =P

Can be other places to except places of high security especially.

hi can i join too. i just took up photography and today is my first learning day... i am rather noob wan. wonder if u all let me join? i live in Sengkang i wonder if any people in sengkang willing to join me and we learn together ha

Based on my previous experience with gatherings is that if it's on such a large scale (> 10 ppl), we should probably reconsider the meeting place. IMO, i don't really encourage gathering @ the Airport for a first meet up. As the others have brought up, the security issues.
