Hi hi!

Just wondering if anyone might be interested in joining in a fun Archery Shoot?

My friend has a range at the Jurong Stadium (Tennis courts converted to a range).

This would be great way to unwind, relax and try shooting something different.

If anyone is interested, the cost is $20 / person (this is what the range charges - I get nothing but I will have the joy of meeting new friends and perhaps find more shooting kakis!) for an organised session comprising:

1) Introduction to archery

2) Group instruction and guidance

3) Practise and

4) A fun, informal competition.

Qualified and experienced instructs will be on hand to assist.

If you want, you could also have the option of having a backyard BBQ at $10 more / person, so friends and partners are more than welcome! You'll be surprised, there are quite a lot of female archers in Singapore!

Let me know if you're interested, and I will organise a gathering.

FUN ARCHERY SHOOT

Interested participants:

1)

2)

3)

4)

5).........

Since most people are free only on weekends, we could hold this on a Saturday evening.

Why don't I propose a date then see how it goes from there:

How about the 12th of March, 2005. 6 - 8 pm so it's not so hot?

CHEERS!

I wouldn't mind except the date doesn't quite suit me.

Had plenty of fun while I was involved with archery in high school. It's been a while since I picked up a bow but I wouldn't mind giving it a go again. Do you have the contact details of the range?

Hi,

Please feel free to suggest an alternate date.

I guess if there's no small group of say at least 5 - 10 people, then you could go down to the range yourself - they are open everyday.

Try contacting Daniel at 9852 3542.

I normally go down as and when I can depending on schedules.

Cheers!

well...never knew there are archers on this forum too.
Maybe we can meet up one of these days at the range.
Was shooting when Daniel was operating at Bukit Merah SAFRA.
Will try to make it at the date.
regards

too far or else will join in.
btw, they provide the equipment?

Interested but not available on 12 March. Please inform me of future archery sessions. Thanks!

Archery! I like, would luv to join in once I'm back in SG hmm, prob not on ur date stated. It's a v addictive game

Hey guys,

Since it seems a little difficult to get a group going, please feel free to conact Daniel. Those of you who have met him before would know what a nice, wasy-going and friendly sort he is.

Incidentally, this range at Jurong is temporary, till the range at SAFRA Tempines is completed (est late Mar - Apr 2005).

For those of you who go down yourselves, have fun! ;)

Upz to this thread, not an archer here but Daniel with his Landrover pulled my Forester, friend's Suzuki Vitara and a towing service recovery truck out of the mud a few months back in the reclaimed land in Punggol. Best of all, he refused any payment, whereas the recovery truck still wanted payment.

Enough of OT, upz to a good man

I will drop by if not on any assignment.

Cheers

SAFRA Tampinese will got the range. :)
Keep me in the loop once the range is ready.
I'm interested...

Any term and condition, like SAFRA member, etc...
For the equipement , does they provide or must have own sets.

Therat:

Yes, all equipment is provided, including archery gear. In Singapore, non-authorised archers are not allowed to purchase equipment under the Arms & Explosives Act.

Ashleyy:

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean! I travel from a central region all the way to Boon Lay, then take a feeder bus. At least the fun I have at the range plus the great guys there makes it all worthwhile!

When the range moves to Tampines, I will still have to travel a looong way to get there! But nothing beats having to go out to the boon docks of CCK to the firearms range

And no, I don't drive. Me too poor to afford car :embrass:

Anyway, I plan to go down later today (SUNDAY from about 4.30 - 8pm) to train.

Please feel free to drop by if anyone's interested. ;)

Cheers!

Mmm.. I might drop by next week.. long time since I tried shooting.. I'm still new at this.. haha.. Do u teach as well? I know Daniel offer courses, but I was too tied up to take it up.. ;p

I'm interested! Are we going there as a group or individually? I'm totally new to archery. Any courses for newbies?

Hi All,

Here's a little info for those who have no experience in Archery, and would like to find out more. Hopefully, it would answer your questions regarding archery for beginners.

_______________________________________________________________

Archery is an easy sport to start with. That's why even kids as young as 7 or 8 can start learning archery. In Singapore, there is also a group of handicapped and parapellegic archers. I believe that there was also a TV or press feature of one archer who was visually impaired.

Daniel's daughter started shooting when she was 4 or 5.

It is also an ideal sport for everyone as it does not require a lot of strength ... more technique and concentration.

I have instructed many beginners with absolutely no exposure/experience and generally, after an hour or two, they start getting the hang of it! My youngest student were in their late primary school years (apologies, I previously listed it as Sec 1 - 2 students). My oldest students were corporate clients (generally mid-late 30's).

You have several options:

1) You can just pop by the range and give it a try. One of the range staff (all archers) will assist you to get started then leave you alone to have fun. I think this costs around $10 or less / per hour but please check with Daniel for the latest rates.

2) You can join a group outing (like the one I tried to start) where there is more instructions and guidance, as well as practise and a mini competition. This costs $20 / person in a group, usually the min no of people is set by the organiser.

3) You could just give it a try and if you're still interested, ask David (Daniel's brother) or ask Daniel or any of the staff about joining an archery course. I believe there are a few different types of courses for beginners (Group or individual, and with different schedules). This you have to check as different instructors charge different rates.

If you would like me to teach you, I would be honoured to do so. I'm a certified Instructor as well. ;)

All equipment and necessary gear will be provided so you don't have to purchase anything!

Here's a link to the Archery Association of Singapore, where you can find a lot of info and listings:

http://www.archerysingapore.com/

You will find that there are about 28 listed clubs in Singapore, some of which offer courses as well.

Please feeel free to contact me if you have any other questions!

Enjoy shooting!
